I wonder if this race will be exciting with DRS and KERS, its usually a snoozer.

Longest DRS zone for Spanish GP

By Pablo Elizalde Thursday, May 19th 2011, 12:08 GMT

Longest DRS zone for Spanish GPFormula 1's ruling body, the FIA, has confirmed the DRS zone for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

The detection point will placed right before the final corner, with the activation soon after the start of the main straight.

It means the DRS zone will be longest available so far, with 830 meters to overtake along the Barcelona circuit's straight.

It is hoped the long DRS zone will boost passing moves on a circuit where overtaking has always been difficult.

Agreed. It will definitely be interesting to see if this helps with the notoriously hard to pass circuit. I read something that said 16 of 20 races here have been won from pole position.

While it may make it easier to pass, how exciting are inevitable DRS passes on the straight? We did see some excitement in Turkey at the end of the DRS straight into that corner, but we also saw loads of passes executed halfway down the straight. They were often foregone conclusions. Within one second? Leapfrog time.

I'll wake up early again Saturday and hit the gym to watch qualifying.

I'm not sure if its inevitable whether you'll get a pass since the last turn complex is relatively difficult to stay close to the car ahead.

Anyone want to try to count how many times Hobbs and Matchett comment on the clag/marbles?

I would. You're paying for 3 days of racing, why only show up to 2 or 1?

Agreed. F1 is becoming less about driving than working around the tires.

Might as well bring back fuel stops, too.

the hard compound is failing to provide the balance needed to keep that from happening.
