I've got a whole list of problems for my dealership this time haha. I've been hearing a funny metalic clanking sound coming from the bottom of my car when I'm driving slow which I guess are failing endlinks. They're gonna have a whole bunch of fun fixing my car -_-
Yeah, I recall your transmission concerns, I just don't recall a clutch issue being mentioned.

I got reimbursed by Subaru for my transmission repairs, but I have a lot of history with them and I'm about to buy another car from them, hopefully, so it was in their best interest to hush me up for $1500, I guess. I'm hoping the issue with the shift fork was at least documented somewhere.

Dang! I totally forgot to mess with the trip reset button yesterday! I'm gonna try today during lunch. I'd try right now since my car is only 50 ft away from me, but it's raining and a little windy. No bueno.

So I tried the trip button. What is the "S" and "L" that you can turn on and off? Anyone?

Got a few questions for you all:

1. I might be picking up some swaybars and endlinks from somebody on this forum. Swaybars front and rear are both 24mm, and the endlinks are kartboy. Now is 24mm a little much for my WRX? The common setup I've seen is 24f/22r. I haven't tracked my car ever, and I do want to get into it, but I am nervous on so I really don't know if I will track the car. With those sways will I be damaging anything if I run 18x9.5 wheels as well? I am a noob with this stuff so I am slowly learning. Thanks in advance!

2. I just purchased a boost gauge and a oil pressure gauge. I saw O.C.D.'s write-up and I was wondering if anybody has a guide on how to remove the alternator, and also is there another way to get the wires through the firewall without taking the wheel well liner apart? Thanks in advance!

I auto-x and had the Whiteline RSB and the whiteline endlinks. The rear end was too stiff for me as the rear end kept coming around on me (for my driving style). Once I returned to the stock RSB, my auto-x placement went from the top 35% to top 10%.

again, this is for my driving style. There will be many more members that say that you want the rear as stiff as possible. I guess I'm saying, learn the car as it is first before you go changing things. Set the car up to match your driving style.

Just installed my Kartboy short shifter

(sorry for the cell phone pics, was easy and convenient)

Before the install

Kartboy installed

Complete

Was really easy to install. Watched a YouTube video which walked me through the whole process. Took no longer than 15 minutes! Only PITA was the snap ring, even with the tool, still was a mofo. I may need to loosen the bushing bolt a smidge, feels a little tight bug awesome!

My wife kept me company and provided a helping hand with the tools!

Yeah, the console needs a little dusting..

+1 for both Anarchy Motive and LatheWerks. Currently rocking a satin white beast of a knob from Anarchy Motive. Highly recommend either of them.

I bought 2 before I finally got one I liked so I know it sucks. I've found with a short shifter, anything less than 1 lb. is just not going to feel right IMO. I started with a Copoly knob because I thought it'd be nice to have a knob that didn't get too hot or too cold but it was just too light. In fact, the OEM shifter was better.

In the end I got a Lathewerks stainless steel knob with a black powdercoat. Not sure if he makes them anymore or not. Pretty sure the besthaticouldo guy powdercoats though. I will say that it does get hot as hell in the summer, but I "borrowed" a pair of baby booties from my buddy so when it's been baking all day I put a baby sock on it, lol. Looks a little weird but my friends seem to think it's pretty resourceful.

OEM STi suspension(just the struts/springs) is stiffer than the WRXs correct?
And interchangeable between the two, and no difference between sedan/hatch?

I thought the rear sways are different between sedan and hatch because of the exhaust...i'm not 100%. But the spring rates are a little stiffer and are a little lower.

I had the kartboy short shifter for awhile but I didn't like how it shortened the height of the shifter. Might be looking into getting a Cobb short shifter soon.

If you're answering my question about STi suspension I specified struts and springs, but thank you.

Its the lower part of the strut where it bolts up that is different on the struts. imo you are better off replacing with aftermarket springs and the bilsteins then going stock sti setup. I love my Swifts, would like to pick up the bilsteins but funds are going elsewhere for now.it is an improvement with just Swifts though.

Found out that the paint is cracked on the driver's side front fender where the tabs that hold up the liner are. Both tabs. Not sure what is the cause for it - a crappy repaint from my accident, or the mild drop I have on OEM BBS wheels. I have barely driven my car 100 miles since the accident, so I really don't see how it could be down to bare metal and chipped off.
