Noticeable gains for sure, especially in torque. I'd say its definitely worth it, just be prepared to essentially give up alot of your warranty

Some would argue the engine is safer with a tune, I thought I'd wait till my warranty was up but I went stage 1 with 20k or so on the odo and I'm very glad I did. Should have done it right away

I'm glad I didn't wait to get the ap. Went stage 1 at around 6000 and stage 2 at around 12000. Would like to get a nice and safe protune on it now though. it's worth it IMO.

If you're JUST doing the AP (Stage 1), you'll be fine as long as you unmarry before service.

Ya that's what I've read there's just so many back and forth ideas on that I just can't decide who's right! I think I'll go stage one though sounds like its a noticeable difference.

Has anyone here actually had engine problems and unmarried their AP and had their claim denied? Or is that just what everyone thinks will happen?

My conclusion with several months of research while waiting for the car was that Cobbs stage 1 tune is more safe(knock induced ringland failure) than the restrictive subaru tune used to meet CA emissions standards. Albeit I didn't go stage 1 till about 10k. (I can check my documents if you really need to know)

Before someone says "don't trust somebody's friend over the Internet", I'll say that's true and use the AP at your own risk. I feel safe with it to get rid of the stock map issues based on my personal experience, but YMMV. Here's a link detailing my research with Christian @ COBB before I installed my AP: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...3&postcount=11 |

I like invidia myself. I think the divorced bellmouth and the fact that it doesn't taper to 2.5" makes it a better piece than the Cobb IMO.

I'll give you both those points, but the taper makes essentially no difference for bolt on power and I'm not looking to go ewg for a while, so neither bothers me. I just wanted something to run a simple its stage 2

I agree, being that they were the same price essentially, I felt like I was getting more for my money. Even though it's not a lot more! Lol

I picked up my Cobb used from a local for a really good deal, otherwise I probably would have done the same. Especially since my greddy is 3in

Didn't want to create a new post so throwing this in here -
Anyone receive a letter from SOA saying that you need to bring your car in for an ECU update? Something about new logic for monitoring the coolant temps or something? I did get a letter, and I'm just curious how much it matters, especially if I plan on going stage 2 sometime this year. Would my stage 2 tune blow away this update you think? The letter says there's no cost to me for the update, but it'd still be a pain in the ass to drop it off/pick it up from the dealer. |

Thanks for the help on the downpipe. I'm in the same boat only looking to go stage 2. So I'll prob just pick up whichever I come across for a better price used.

What is the deal with the stock horn that so many people add an aftermarket one? Does it fail to warn even the least hard-of-hearing pedestrian that the light is green and its time for them to GTFO of the crosswalk? It seems loud enough to me.
