I dont know about "keep beating"

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

Looks like the wrx kicked ass, especially with its ****ty rsb and lackluster tires. The stock car understeers like a drunk fratboy, but add the sti rsb and thats more or less gone. Yet it still beat the ms3 on their little ring test and almost beat the "amazing" yet quantifiably lame focus st.

I bought my wrx because I love subaru and have wanted a wrx since they came to the states when I was just getting into high school...would have bought one regardless of pretty much anything. However, I love it and am enthusiastic about it because I don't give a **** about a soft touch dash, touchscreen "sync" crap, blah blah blah. It is a performance monster for the money, and can handle bad weather unlike 100% of its competition. People just love to whine, its just that when they do it in the face of actual measurements that disagree with their "analysis," they get all pissy.

Also, there is about zero competition for it. The wrx-level lancer blows in performance, everything else is fwd or a ford, and the golf r is ****ing $35,000 (for what?).

by beating I meant subjectively, it was the fastest car in that motortrend comparison but they ranked it 3rd.

I don't really care about feature content, but rattles, crappy plastic, poor sound deadening and bad wind management bug me(its awfully turbulent with the sunroof open compared to some other cars I've had). But like you said there is no competition..lol. There was actually a youtube comparison between the wrx, evo and golf r and they seemed to find the WRX more fun to drive than the golf r.

I like the idea of the focus ST, I don't think I would buy one but its nice to see a great handling FWD car that doesn't understeer at all. I don't really like that it has electric LSD and the tube that pipes extra noise into the cabin. It gets good mpg too although ford seems to be pretty optimistic with their MPG claims of late. I don't like the look of the interior. Domestic interiors, even when they are using higher quality materials, tend to look tacky.

Oh gotcha.

The interior looks like they tried to hard to be cool, and it just comes off cheap. Like the yellow accents on the recaros. It reminds me of high school kids who put colorful crap over everything, like that makes it better. The rattles are annoying but could be worse and I wish the plastic were more durable, but I would rather have a car that doesnt fall apart than a vw with a nicer interior.

Speaking of which, theres a high school kid around me with a new gen impreza 2.0 with "illest" stickers, RA flaps, and a fart can. What exactly is illest about it?

lol illest is some lame hellaflush related company...google it..or don't that might be better.

They did the same thing with the dodge dart interior. I think our interiors are fine looks wise, the steering wheel is nice and the driving position is very good. Its just kind of crappy, it reminds me of my 03 sentra SE-R..really more like the spec v version because the plastic was black. The old WRXs actually had better dash materials but they are even louder and less refined I think.

I had a hawkeye impreza, and the interior and quality on the current wrx is much higher. I remember the crappy plastic steering wheel, the cloth doorcard armrests, crappy plastic dash, etc.

Speaking of the steering wheel, its a shame the d-spec wheels are so expensive...do want.

yeah way too expensive

wonder how many pieces of a LGT Spec B would fit into our cars since they are apparently based on previous gen legacies

Seems odd, but you are right, there is a lot of stuff that is compatible. Aren't our gears similar?

edit: seems odd about how many similarities, not that youre right lol

hmm $350 for a steering wheel, $90 for shiftboot (double stitch, looks tits), $70 for ebrake boot, plus tax and shipping, so around $600 for some leather. Then theres the gauge hood, add another $350 for an alcantara wrapped hood because why not at that point, and we are up to $1000 to make the car a little nicer inside.

I think I'll save the $1000 for a down payment on the next sti, or something responsible, like...you know...investments and such.

yeah I don't think redoing the interior is worth it..maybe DIY dash flocking or dynamatting

our gears are similar

Hey guys, bit of a noob question, but what do you use as a jacking point for the front of our cars? Up until now I've just used the spare tire jack on the sides but now that I finally got a proper floor jack I wanted to see how others use it? Thanks

Yeah I have this one,
http://www.harborfreight.com/low-pro...eel-68049.html

It barely makes it under my car with the Swift Springs and front lip but it does clear it. It had a pretty good lift height as well, I'm happy with it so far.

Get some race ramps or Google some of the homemade ones, I don't like lifting one side at a time personally, the jack stand always shifts around while I'm lifting the other side.

Race ramps do the same thing as rv levelers. But I like Legos better so I use the levelers...?oh they're cheaper too.

That's a nice find. I might look into those, way cheaper than race ramps. Anything with the word "race" next to it gets overpriced it seems.

Don't use them to intermediate your way onto other rhino type ramps or you'll shoot them out from under your tired like a deck of cards. Lol.

But they are compact into a small Zip up box.

Another useful toy are airbag jacks.

I have Rhino Ramps and they take up a buttload of space. I might get rid of them and get a set of those Lynx Levelers. I also have a jack and jackstands, but that's a pain in the ass to drag out if I don't have to remove the wheels.

Oh. The other warning is on a garage floor or other really smooth surface you have to be careful so you drive up on these and not pull them under the car. It's hard to explain, too much torque will suck the levelers under the wheels and spit them out the backside of the car on ultra smooth surfaces. I place a piece of cardboard under the levelers so they can grip the cardboard and drive up.

Yeah I don't mind using the jack and stands but it is a little difficult to get it under there with the slight drop and front lip, would like to get these to drive up on so I could get the jack under there easier.
