Take it to a local exhaust shop and have them swap on quad tips?

So possible misfire solution. I know someone in here mentioned having some soldering done in the wiring harness but I never found out where until tonight.

http://www.wrxforums.com/forums/10-3...range-fix.html

took my harness apart
found this cluster****tastic mess

took the tape off the part where one wire was branching into 4

liberally applied solder to both sides of the connection..lol

then I taped everything back up and took it for a drive, so far so good, but too soon to tell for sure.

I should clarify, those exposed grounds you see there were taped together, they just looked like a frayed mess when I took the tape off

yeah..lol It was still a bit messier than I would have liked.

I'm just not sure if that connection was actually bad or not. I mean the wires were tightly connected, but not twisted together...idk. I would be surprised if this was actually the solution, but we'll see.

just drove it around a bunch and through the car wash(which used to set it off). So far so good. No pending misfire codes stored in the ECU, there usually were before even though it rarely turned into a CEL because you need like 100 misfires for a CEL lol.

my 2014 has been driving nicely. There are a few differences ive noticed, maybe there is more to the newer models than people say, especially since cobb is taking so long to put out an AP for something that all the bros say is the same thing. Start up is much different and I seem to need to cruise in lower gears than I did with the 2011, also different feeling response, though its hard to articulate.

Well, cobb did say its a different ecu to deal with.

apparently so, otherwise cobb would have put out an AP at least a month ago seeing as how there is a huge financial incentive to do so.

the start up was the first thing that caught my attention, though i am sure some or most of the differences could just be differences that would occur between cars anyhow.

So I was away from my car for the weekend (from Friday morning to this afternoon.) The car remained parked for the whole time. When I got in it this afternoon, after warming it up I began to drive. About a quarter mile from my parking spot, going 25 mph, I heard a LOUD scraping / screeching noise, sounded like it was coming from my front driver's side wheel / brake. I pulled over, got out to check if I could see anything, got back in and began driving. Haven't heard the noise since, but I'm wondering if it's something that I might want to get checked out at a dealer? Anyone have this happen to them? This is the first bad sounding noise I've heard from the car since I bought it in July

Most likely something like a rock got stuck between your brake pad or shield and rotor. Happened to me a couple times

Yeah, probably a pebble got stuck. Its a gut wrenching sound to hear from your car, but thats likely the culprit.

On level ground, warm engine, normal ambient temperature range, what are your guys' rpm range in 3rd gear at 30mph? Maintaining speed and throttle position, of course.

I ask because on literally the same road I drove with the 2011 I could cruise in 4th at around 2k rpm, but 4th on the 2014 is too far below 2k to do so comfortably, so I have to be in 3rd at about 2.2k rpm.

Unless a) I am crazy or b) its just a normal variance between cars and/or whatever minuscule difference between the specifics of my cars (tires, etc) adding up.
