Default Clicking noise, goes away when i brake

Got a clicking noise from the right front, 02 wrx. its a click...click...click...click...click...click, speeds up when i speed up, and it happens pretty much no matter if im turning or in a strait line, but doesnt happen all the time. It goes away EVERY time I hit the brakes, you guys have any ideas?

sounds like you're missing a brake pad shim. I've seen this once before on one of my other cars.

the brake pad is moving back and forth making it click in the caliper bracket. But when you apply the brakes, it will stop the pad from moving. These are not the shims that go between the pad and the pistons. I'm taking about the little tangs around the side.

Try checking the pads for movement.

hmmm, i took the brake off, it looks like theres NO shim between anything

are you talking about the little tangs in the top and bottom of the bracket? those are there, it has tabs that look like they should be folded onto the pad, but they are straitened out, not sure if they should be folded up or not

Jack the car up and spin the tire. You should be able to locate the source, possibly a wheel bearing. Find it and fix it before you have a catastrophic failure.
