Default 2011 Formula 1 - Round 6: Circuit de Monaco, Monaco

NO DRS to be run.

RBR domination? or will the Mclarens mess things up once again? Or shall HRT ruin the top runners by getting the blown diffusers thrown out?

Well, we know Red Bull has the speed through the turns, not on the straights, so this should help them here. They really need to get their KERS sorted, though.

I though the latest was no DRS through the tunnel during free practice and qualifying with the front straight being the DRS zone for the race?

Anyone else attending the race? I'll be on the rocks Saturday and Sunday.

i think you are correct.

Quote:
The FIA has banned drivers from using the DRS overtaking wing in the Monaco tunnel at this weekend's grand prix.
The in-race overtaking zone spans just 300 metres on the start-finish straight, but the rear wing system can be used by drivers anywhere else on the twisty street circuit in practice and qualifying.
I actually thought that Hamilton was quicker through the twisties than Vettel (in Spain) and it was really just the last chicane that prevented him from passing Vettel.

Thought I heard that it was Williams that initially started the protests against the blown diffusers.

Button should do well....qually near the top and make his tires last forever/minimize time spent in the pits. Does anyone remember the amount of time a pit stop takes in Monaco?

So if the damaged asphalt from the truck fire at the Ste. Devote corner can not be dried in time for Thursday's practice or maybe even saturdays qualifying what are if any alternative routes or options are there...??? Has something like this ever happened in f1s history before?

They've had issues like this before, they'll be able to handle it. Canada in 09 pulled up, and last year they threw together Korea in about 2 minutes. I'd be surprised if it is a problem come race day.

I forgot about Korea... That's a good point.

It doesn't seem they are worried about race day either... More so practice in less then 24 hours and maybe qualifying... Has there ever been an f1 weekend in recent history were practice was called off and not made up later... In other words, it was all down to p3 to setup the cars and get laps in...? I realize in changing weather they have to sometimes do this but atleast some laps are had for the brave/stupid on Friday

i am pretty sure korea was not freshly laid asphalt in 24 hrs....

the only recollection i have of freshly laid asphalt being used on a racetrack, was during nascar at daytona, for their pothole.

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=4914019
this could be a serious issue...

From James Allen's blog:

The super soft Pirelli tyre, which makes its debut this weekend, is expected to last around 8 laps in the opening stint.

They wouldn't know that, considering they have yet to run the super soft compound, nor around Monaco on them.

Actually Perelli is claiming the opposite... They are saying that the super soft should heat up immediately and provide maximum performance by the first flying lap.... And last an expected maximum of 10laps.

What about Alonso and Ferrari? Does anyone other than myself feel they can be a dark horse? Ferdy knows how to win at Monaco.

Button and hamilton have won as well and have a slightly better cars too...

The Ferrari should excel on the supersofts but that doesn't mean they'll put their car on pole which will be crucial in keeping the bulls from running off...
