ok, i'm going with the mrt system, but i'm not sure about the muffler. anybody got a pic of it installed? i was wondering what everybody's favorite muffler is that fits on the stock exhasut sytem (which will also fit in the MRT, right?), also wondering where a good place to get it is, and the cost. pics would be sweet. seems like so many people like the stromung, how come? thanks, take care.

What I have to say about my Stromung axle back.
"If the sound from a V8 was considered Natural suger, I'd call the sound from my stromung dual tip: Nutra sweet." It's pretty dam good, but there something just not quite right about the sound. But remember...I am very VERY picky. ![]() Last edited by obyone; 07-23-2002 at 11:43 PM. |

I absolutely love my Stromung single tip exhaust. The sound is perfect! It snarls at idle and low rpms, and at high rpms and wide open throttle, it roars.
My buddies are very impressed (jealous ) of the sound that exhaust makes!Later. |

My friend said my dual-tip Stromung is too noisy. This was when I first started my car and it was idling. Then I revved it all the way up!

Just remember that the MRT Header Section smooths out exhaust flow so much that it changes the sound of the subaru exhaust. Its still very low but not as raspy or snarly like the Borla/Random/Stromung setup. Its not V8 like but more like a very smooth low pitched one. I think it still sounds good especially the lovely caugh sputter it makes in between shifts

Very satisfied with my Stromung stainless dual tip, mid pipe set up. Combined with borla headers and random cat, the sound is suductive
One warning though, i have periodically developed a rattle from inside the dual tip muffler. First time it happened, i returned the muffler directly to stromung and they replaced it (2 months later). It happened again with the new muffler in about 8 months. This time i just waited to see what would happen. It seems to have left for the time being. My fingers are crossed... |

no way, the prodrive WR sport is the KING of rear sections.
beats me as to where you can get one for the GC8 in the states now, though...the GDA fits, but one of the hangers has to be re-welded in the proper spot.no, i'm not getting rid of mine. ![]() |

I like my Borla can. It looks "aftermarket" without being an over the top Japanese style exhaust can. The tip is fairly big but I like it that way. It fits perfectly and has never given me any problems. I would describe it as a bigger version of the stock exhaust.
Sound wise it's a great rumble. Like others have said with the Borla header it had a serious sound to it...something between a powerful V8 and a bad a$$ motorcycle. I liked it a lot...when idling it would just rumble rumble pop rumble pop rumble. The MRT system though (with the same can) has a very different sound. It's much more of a "high performance" type sound instead of a deep rumble. It will roar, seriously roar at WOT and high revs...but honestly my intake drowns it out (but then my intake is way over the top). Performance wise I barely noticed anything when I first put the can on (and midpipe, but stock cats an header). The exhaust can mod is pretty much a looks thing...and won't make a real difference until several other things have been done. NC |

Most people here know I am a HUGE MRT fan. I love those guys and their products.
But the MRT exhaust can isn't that great. Even if I wanted to get the MRT exhaust system I wouldn't get their can. Oh yeah, I did get their exhaust system and didn't get their can. ![]() NC |

Last time I talked to Borla they said they wouldn't sell me and axle back muffler section. They said they only sell it as a Cat-Back kit.
The best place I have found to buy just Borla Mufflers is www.godfathercustoms.com. They have the Boomers Series for $239. Then all you would need to do is get a local exhaust shop to fab a muffler section that included your nice stainless steel Borla Muffler. Brad |

![]() but seriously, they both are top shelf pieces. the prodrive is james bond...subdued and charming, but will still kick your ass...whereas the scoobysport is the lead pipe wielding soccer hooligan of the bunch. -adam- |

I have a borla catback and I love the sound it makes. I can't imagine a borla muffler on a different exhaust of the same size sounding much different. Take it from me, the sound is beautiful and mean at the same time. But beware if you have a wife or gf, she might make you sell it!
I've seen guys selling their borla's on here b/c the wife said it was too loud. But on another not...my fiance loves how it sounds. -Slack |

is that a good thing? that's like that's like a child-molestor telling you your son is good looking. (not that ricers are comparable, except they do some ungodly stuff to their cars).
