Default 1978 Subaru BRAT - restored & documented

Many of you locals have seen the car. It's time to say goodbye. Hopefully it will go to someone who takes care of it.

Yea... we were going to "thin out" a lot of stuff for the move..... but then I ended up finding a HUGE house in TX.

Plus, I just gave all my parts I had laying around to Rusty for helping me out with the clutch.... so, not much really left to sell.

I'm leaving for St. Louis this Friday..... you're more than welcome to take a look at it/drive it if you like. My wife will still be here while I'm gone though, so I'm sure I can arrange a viewing even while I'm gone... just let me know.

If I was in a slightly different point in my life I would be all over that thing, pick up where you left off; freshen up the mechanical aspect of it back to oem and then enjoy it.

GLWS and have fun in TX!

Just wanted to say thanks for the HUGE amount of interest I've received on this car in the past 24 hours since I listed it. I was confident that there would be a few interested parties, I had no idea it would generate as much interest as it has though. I've received several emails complimenting me on my work as well, which means a lot considering I have quite a bit of blood and sweat into this quirky little car. So thank you.

With that, I did get a couple questions regarding my lack of photos of the underside of the car. Understandably so, as these things are notorious for having rotted frames and floorboards, virtually rendering them unsafe to drive, or worthy of owning/restoring.

In response, I just finished making a 3rd video of the underside of the car, to include the underside of the engine, transmission, rear differential, exhaust, floorboards, and frame. The link to the video is posted in the auction, so please take a few moments to watch it when you get a moment. Hopefully it should ease any concerns you may have about the structural integrity of this car.

Thanks again!

--Matt

eBay member "seventy_four"..... I would strongly suggest you block him as a bidder on any of your auctions.

He was the winning bidder, and then 30 minutes after the auction closed, I got a "Sorry, I wanted to buy it, but I cant - sorry for any inconvenience" email from him.

He now has an unpaid item strike against him, has been blocked, and is being investigated internally by eBay for fraud. In the meantime, I have no choice but to relist it.

Here is the new auction:
Subaru : BRAT - eBay (item 130528918219 end time Jun-13-11 21:11:00 PDT)

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately eBay realljy can't do much for you in a case like this. About all you can do is sue the guy if you really wanted to.

I completely understand. Because of the time crunch, ill be happy to work with any potential buyers. I can have someone locally help out with delivery after ive moved, or I can just put the car in a storage facility pending pickup. Either is fine.

Contact me, if youre seriously interested, we'll work it out.

This is a fantastic car in great condition. Was trying to show some friends at a party last night, and the eBay listing was gone. Needless to say, I'd be surprised if the car doesn't sell. Throw it up on KSL as well.

KSL drives me crazy. I'm about 99.9% sure that the car will be bought by a Subaru enthusiast... which it should be.

Every time I put something on KSL, I get every toothless meth-head in Utah ringing my phone off the hook. Its here, and on slcsubaru, and on eBay... that should limit the potential callers to those that are "serious"

Good point. I'm new to the Utah area, and thus far KSL has been okay for me. Does slcsubaru have a good classifieds section?

^^^ Just generic racing bucket seats. Decent quality, nothing to write home about though. The colors matched my exterior "theme", so i picked them up.

I "think" they are only sold in pairs... But they were under $300 for the set. I got them on ebay.... It just took awhile to sift through all the crap that said "bomz" or "type r" on the headrest..... I just wanted a plain unmarked seat.

Let me look back through my ebay feedback and see if I can figure out who the seller was.
