Question Subaru underseat subwoofer

Hi,
Has anyone added the factory underseat amplified subwoofer to their car? I have a chance to get one and I wonder if it is an easy install? Does it go under the drivers seat and how is it attached to the radio. I would be putting it into an 02 Forester L .
Thanks for any info. Gene

theres a 3 way wiring harness that plugs into the back of the radio(my02 WRX, but should be the same on yours) and then into the factory wires then you just run that to the sub and your done. Mine is mounted under the passenger seat from the factory but I'm sure the drivers seat would work as well. Good luck-james

mine came with it already installed at the dealer. its a pretty cool unit consindering its tiny size...big boom for its dimenions.

i looked at it the other nite. it looks like a real easy install.
does anyone know if there is a tuner knob to change the frequency? id like to lower it just a tad because the 100-110hz area is pronounced. i like more of the 75-80hz range.

Question underseat subwoofer

Hi,
I looked under the passenger seat and there are no wires unless they are under the carpet there.
I looked under the drivers seat and there is a wire coming up to a connection at the bottom of the seat but I don't know where this goes. If I do get the subwoofer ,I probably would get a wire or connection that would go from the radio to the subwoofer . How hard is it to get to the back of the radio without taking everything apart.
Again thanks for your help.

You pop off the trim, take out some screws (six, as I recall) and slide out the radio chassis. Plug, unplug, route the subwoofer cable down the console and under the seat, and off you go. It takes a half-hour if you're a laggard.

I put one in my 99 OBS about a month ago. Mine has two controls on it - one for overall gain and the other for the crossover frequency. Make sure you make your adjustments before mounting the bracket to the seat - you can't get to the controls once it's mounted. Generally speaking, the installation was a breeze. It took me more time to unplug the connector from the back of the HU than the entire rest of the install. I had the HU resting on the console while I was struggling with the connector and I scratched the living crap out of the top of the console. Make sure you drape a towel or something over the console to protect it.
