Is there anyone who has a service manual who would like to post the instructions on how to change the fuel filter
Or anyone who has experience with this would like to tell me their steps that they use? Gonna try this for the first time, I've changed them on my old Blazer but I want to make sure I don't skip a step on the Subaru Thanks, Ryan

Do a search on this forum and you'll find many postings detailing fuel filter replacement.

i did mine the other day its pretty easy. The filter is located on the drivers side right on top. Unclip the filter bracket and release the hose clamps. The hose will spit a little fuel out when you pull them off. Just put the hoses back where they are supposed to be and clip the filter back in. Dont forget the stock rubber piece or else the filter wont be gripped. If you have any questions PM or e mail me...Joe

If you have never done a FI fuel filter replacement I suggest:
-Do it when the engine is bone cold (the pressure in the line will also be lower by the time the engine gets cold). -Disconnect the battery. -Have rag available to catch and/or deflect fuel spray. -Don't get fuel on the paint. -Use common sense when dealing with combustibles. |

I dont think you need to remove the gas cap. If anything there would be a slight vacum in the tank. Any pressure is removed by the evaporative system and placed into the charcoal to be burned at the next start.
I suggest having a little motor oil or wd40 handy. The tubes can be a bitch to get on the new filter without a little lube. |
