I have no problems downloading free MP3's. I agree it is stealing, I agree it is morally wrong, but I still do it. I have never downloaded music from someone who isn't at least 10X wealthier than me so I don't feel bad about it. Would it piss me off if someone stole from me, YES, again it doesn't seem to stop me from doing it though. The record companies have tried to stop me and that pissed me off at the time but again I understand why they did it and they understand why I do it. Thanks for your time.

Jimb-

(Before you read this, understand I pulled this from my a** I dont claim anything is right or wrong. I just listen to my brain and my heart, not what it says on a piece of paper or what some other jacka** said once)

The Free Market and Darwinism.

Im not sure just how much but it was brought to my attension that the internet was pretty much free from prosecution? Who is going to police it? Who owns the internet and the content on it?
It aint the US patent office thats for sure, and as much as it might seem it Microsoft doesnt own it either. The internet is perfect, its anarchy, capitalism, socialism, and democracy wrapped up in one global nation...

Anarchy- A system free from an organized government
Capitalism- A system the promotes exchange over governement
Socialism- A system owned and operated by the people
Democracy- A system where every individual has a voice

Im going to site Counter Strike as a perfect internet organism.
Although the Half-Life and Valve created the initial coding or operating system someone else created the Counter Strike mod. Yes they created the mod, but once the internet population took it on it became its own creature. Before long there were bunny-hoppers and campers. Campers pissed people off so another person created a way to auto-boot campers. Soon there were wall hacks and auto aimers; cheaters and cheats, moderators and, anti-cheats. It was beautiful, a new cheat would come out as a result of an enthusiast fighting the system. Then people would get pissed and another enthusiast would make an anti-cheat to restore order.

So what does CS have to do with the internet?

In the end Valve noticed that CS was more popular then its own game. They bought the rights to it and did what they thought it needed. Now no one plays it anymore.

Moral?

Let the people manage and "it" will flurish, try and control "it" and "it" dies.

A wise man once told me:

Without a teacher there are no students, without students there is no teacher.

further: without musicians and code writers there is no consumers, without consumers there are no musicans or code writers.

Beats the dead horse,
DREW

Huh, luckily I glanced at the date and saw that it was 2002! Was about to yell at OP to buy the track for a buck on iTunes/Amazon/etc.
