Default 2012 WRX STi S206

Found this while looking for other stuff on MotoImage's website.

http://subaru.autonet.com.tw/cgi-bin...?b105074420001

The headline states that it will be a final 'special' version with lots of 'special' parts, 320hp, limited to production run of 300 units and JDM only (RHD).

Here is the special parts list (based on my limited Chinese reading ability and help from google translate):

- CF front (lower) lip spolier
- aluminum hood
- CF roof
- CF rear spolier
- upgraded turbo (no specifics given)
- model specific ECU (no details about this either)
- 19-inch BBS Alloy wheels (no specifics about wheel and tire sizing)
- Bilstein coilovers
- upgraded sway bars
- front strut brace
- 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rears
- custom exhaust (and different placement..don't know what they mean by this)
- STi S206 shift knob
- S206 badging

I haven't found anything from Subaru Japan regarding this car, but i'm sure there must be something out there...

Sounds about like the R205, plus some CF action.

Probably a Swan-song model for the GR bodied WRX STI.

Kind of like how the Legacy S402 didn't happen until the last year of the BL/BP Legacy line.

Still pretty cool. Gotta get rid of all those left over parts some-how

Thanks for sharing.

I agree about the swan song. I'd take one.

Taken altogether it sounds OK. The coilovers seem improbable, though.

both 5-door and 4-door....I'm guessing they'll split the limited production of 300 units down the middle and build 150 of each body type.

If this comes stateside I will be in line. Now to figure out when I can actually go to a dealer and they will know what I am talking about. Last time I went to my local Subaru dealer asking about the 2012 WRX/STI plans they gave me a blank stare.

don't hold your breath.

the 2012 wrx/sti won't be any different from the 2011. it'll be a year newer though.

Considering the new chassis impreza's are due in Oct/Nov I'd say we'll start seeing production of the GR chassis '12s around that time frame since they have no doubltly ramped the line up for a stronger launch of the new chassis.

The only turbo Subaru's on lots right now are Forester XTs, STI's and WRX's are sold out just about everywhere, LGT's have almost never been available, and are unable to be ordered at the moment.

Translation, I really wish I had one to trade in, cause the used one's will be in high demand for the next 6 months

Hatch, 5 door, wagon, whatever. I called my 05 WRX wagon, a wagon, and my 08 MS3 a hatch. I miss having the extra utility of a 5th door(?) My trunk is the size of a carry-on and now it takes running home to get my wife's CX-9 if I want to haul anything of size.

When I think "5 door" I think this:

yea its pretty bad in europe you get 320 hp for free because they realized it helps the engines last longer, but in japan you have to buy a spec C or S varient, and heck Subaru of america could care less about either

If that is correct, then I should expect that I can actually drive a new STI home around Jan/Feb. I guess I will keep going to the dealer and asking so that I can get on the order list ASAP!
