What can I say about the people at Exeter Subaru. From my purchase to the install of the M2 Exhaust was great. Mike and Bill were great working me into the schedule for the install from delays on the UPS end. Thanks for everything guys!

Thumbs up

Ordered gaskets/hangers/bolts/springs for my own exhaust install from them also the gauge housing. Was disappointed the exhaust install parts weren't on the websites, but phoned in my ordered. Was told the order would go out that day, called the next week order still didn't go out, then finally on the 2nd week it went out. They switched to a different mail carrier. Wished for an email confirmation or tracking, but didn't get one although they said I would. But overall, very good.

Default Exeter Subaru WARNING...

I ordered a trailer hitch from Exeter's website. I waited a week and half before I called them to see when to expect my hitch. They had lost my order up until I called them as they had no record of one being shipped to me. They said they were sorry.

On their site, there is a picture of the FACTORY hitch and a description and pricing next to it. So naturally I thought I was ordering and getting the FACTORY hitch. When an AFTERMARKET hitch arrived at my door, I was a bit pissed to say the least!! The invoice cleverly has a SUBARU FACTORY part number on it......with an "a" for aftermarket at the end of the number (so THEY know what they sold).

When I called them and talked to the parts manager (Mike), I told him that I felt I was DECEIVED by the picture on the website. Nowhere does it say "Not a factory part." or "Made by Da'lan" or ANYTHING to lead me to believe this was not the FACTORY HITCH. I aked him if it was FRAUD to use a Subaru part number and sell an aftermarket part. That's when he told me about the "a".

He is willing to refund the price of the hitch ONLY!! No refund for shipping to me, and no refund for me to ship it back to him (total around $50?)....AND NONE OF THIS WAS MY FAULT. The only mistake I made was to trust them! HA!

Well, this is MY experience with them SO FAR. I just want you guys to know how they operate.

I called SOA to let them know that Exeter was using an SOA picture of a trailer hitch, but selling an aftermarket hitch. They were concerned.

If the aftermarket hitch is soooo much better because you don't have to cut the bumper cover, then why not take a picture of that neat installation and use that!!

FYI, the SOA hitch is held on with seven (7) bolts. The Da'lan hitch is held on with.........four (4) bolts. The size of the square tubing is smaller on the Da'lan hitch too (10 lbs. lighter for those who care about that). Much better, don't you think? There are also other differences. Oh, You can get the Da'lan hitch MUCH cheaper elsewhere!!

Moderator: Maybe this should be in the "Vendor" forum.

Default "Trailer" hitch

First, to SubaruJohn:
As much as you would like to screw me....the hitch is for a BIKE RACK.

Second, to Bill:
BEFORE I ordered the hitch, I did thorough research in the Forced Induction forum and found several choices of hitches. I asked specifically about the SOA hitch. Other choices (DrawTite and Da'lan) did not appeal to me.....they looked "cheap". People HAVE installed the SOA hitch on WRX sedans and wagons....so it DOES fit....regardless of whether SOA "recommends" it or not. AND some people posted pictures of towing a "U-haul" trailer or said they towed a motorcycle on a trailer with no problems.

There is no excuse for the deception, especially when what you sell is not what you have in the picture in the ad.

I EVEN ASKED EXETER IF THE SOA HITCH WAS MADE BY DA'LAN....AND IF THEY WERE THE SAME HITCH (because if it was NOT the same, I could get the Da'lan cheaper somewhere else!!). I was told "Probably the same (as in "you never compared them?), I don't think Subaru makes any hitches. They probably have someone make it for them."

I ordered side skirts when I first got my car, and 4 pots recently. Each transaction was great. When the front rotors were on backorder they told me, NOT the old "Yes we have it in stock" then make you wait for weeks. And when the rotors finally did ship, the gave me a break on shipping.

Great work Mike and Co.!

Thumbs down Avoid subaruwrxparts.com

Their dealership name is Exeter Subaru and they are located in New Hampshire. Their prices are really good, but they take a long time to ship. I bought an exhaust system, but ended up sending back the up-pipe because it wasn't the one I wanted. After over a month, I'm still waiting for my credit. Also, my package arrived damaged and they had me deal with their shipper. I finally got it straightened out with the shipper without any help from them.

AVOID THIS STORE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Mike is the guy in charge of the mail order and he sounds really nice, but their service is just horrible. For $50 more, I could have gotten the same thing from Teague's (excellent, I bought my up-pipe from them).

Again, don't be fooled by the low prices; it's not worth the hassle.

I really do want them to correct this or at least answer my emails because their prices are usually very low. If they don't want to respond, I'll go through my credit card company.

I'm going to assume this credit was an honest mistake and you just misplaced the decimal point. There was a credit to my account for $31 (yes thirty one dollars) but the pipe I returned was $310. Could you check your records and credit my account accordingly.
Thank you,
Ali

Beside taking care of the credit, Mike sent me a free Subaru rally baseball cap and a nice multi tool because of the delay. He explained that it was an honest mistake and my paperwork just get misplaced. It was a nice gesture that won me back as a customer.
