Default Clutch cylinder rod mating to pitch fork

What is the easiest or proper way to mate the Clutch cylinder rod to the pitch fork? Right now the rod is sitting below the hole in the pitch fork. Here are pics to show what I'm talking about

That looks like it is sitting right where it is supposed to. It does NOT sit in that top hole there. It sits in a dimple below that hole on the back of the fork. Take a look for it. The top hole is for a spring that goes from there to that tab on the left side of the top picture. The spring prevents rattling, but doesn't do much else. Many people don't even run one, myself included.

Damn it. I knew this one. It's like watching jeopardy and knowing the answer to one of the questions but the guy next to you says it first.
