Default GC8 strut mounts on bc/bf?

Anyone done this yet. I want to order them now but after reading one of Z1 performance's posts I dont know if they fit.

Quote:
ST2031044000 - front
ST2032044000/010 - right and left rear up to production date 5/91
ST2032044000 - rear after production date 6/91

Now to further complicate things, the ones I have en route are (for a GC8, as again, I am told they too fit): ST20370F8200
So if the GC8 work anyone suggest where to get them for a good price? I though Z1 performance would carry them but I cannot find them on his page.

spimotorsports has them for 128
vividracing has them for 124
xcceleration has them for 159

at the same time german-autowerks has Cusco Pillowball with Camber Adjustable for 189

Where should I look? Should I just get the cusco?

I would also just go with the STi mounts, so much better.

OK, did the suspension last night, here is what we have found so far:

1. Front: used KYB GR2's for a 91 Legacy Turbo, Tein S Tech springs for a GC8, Sti Group N strut tops for a GC8, stock Legacy Turbo spring "pans" (the plate that mounts between the top of the spring and the bottom of the upper strut mount): no issues at all. Only thing I would do different next time is use the upper spring "pan" from an Impreza - the Legacy spring is just a hair smaller in circumference than the Impreza spring, so there is a small part of the spring that sits directly on the metal "pan" , and doesn't make it into the rubber seal as it should,,,no noise though at all, but still, using the Legacy strut, Impreza "pan", Impreza top mount, and Impreza rubber isolator would be the "right" way.

2. Rear - ran into a wee bit of trouble here as I didn't have the Impreza spring pan on hand as I thought I did from my old 2.5 RS! What we ended up doing was using the Legacy Turbo KYB GR2 strut, cut a coil off the stock Legacy spring, and used the stock Legacy upper mount again...fit fine, had a bit of slack now witht he cut spring, so we were very careful at reassembly. Have about 60 miles on it so far over some pretty rough roads, at speed, parking lot, etc, and no issues at all....car handles looks and ride great.

When I am back from the Maine Pro Rally this weekend (yes, we're taking the Legacy), I'll do the rears again and use the Impreza spring pan and the STi mount. We were able to verify though that the GC8 rear upper strut mount works fine...fits without issue into a 91 Legacy Turbo just as we had thought

Oh crap. I guess my whole idea is shot. I thought the STI mounts came with the spring seat.

Dammit, anyone have some used spring seats.

My whole intention was to use the larger upper diameter springs.

I swore the rears were a one peice deal. When I dissambled them they came out as ONE PEICE. I guess they could have been stuck together. I have done this twice now and both times it was one peice. Does that mean I have to get new spring seats and new hats?

Dammit subaru, why are you so lame. This isnt the case in other countries.

Im completly confused now.

What should I order?

I want to have spring seats that will match the springs I have, they are the larger upper diameter that would normally be installed in say a 93 legacy wagon awd rear.

Someone help? I have had brand new springs for the rear ordered since april and they still are not installed.

ciper,

If you still want to install the current springs you have, get the wider top mounts for the 92-94 legacies

Sounds good, but from where? If possible Id like an aftermarket or STI comparible model. Otherwise Ill just use subaru parts, it seems like a waste though. Has anoyone parted out a legacy lately?
