Default Window scratches...?

In my foolish attempted to clean the front window of my car I accidently ended up putting a fair amount of scratches in one particular spot were I had a hard time getting some gunk off my window. I just had the window replaced and now am wondering if I totally ruined it with the scratches or if there is a way to buff them out?

any advice is appreciated.

thanks!

I do believe glass polishes exist. I think they use some sort of filler to even out any microscopic or larger indents in the glass. I don't know if there very popular

First, what did you use that caused the scratches? If they are very light, you might have luck with a glass polish or "regular" compound/polish.

Cerium oxide is a more effective, aggressive solution for buffing scratches from glass but care must be taken since you can cause optical distortion. It would be my last resort TBH. I would first try the polishes and check your work often. Some glass shops may even be able to help correct or offer advice.

Thanks for the responses.

I used a scrub brush from the kitchen sink which was dumb of me. the scratches look to be pretty light so I'll give some glass polish a try...thanks!

They also make special glass cutting disks you can fit onto some PC machines. You use the whatever oxide based glass polish in combination. Keep in mind, it's very tedious and time consuming. Glass is obviously very hard.
