Unhappy Cute Auto Body Shop. Painting side skirts.....Color NOT match !

I took my side skirts and a front lip to
Cute Auto Body shop at Redwood City for painting (Yellow), $80/each. I picked them up today but the color is not even close to the original yellow. Its too "creamy".

I will go back there tomorrow and ask them to re-paint them. Do you think they will do that? Should I pay if they ask for extra?

Please give me some advice.

Thanks

They should repaint them. They should have a warranty on thier work, and that should be covered under the warranty.
If they say it has nothing to do with the warranty, Then just keep on them that the color doesn't match and they should fix it.

At least that's how it's always been at the shops I have worked at. It didn't happen often but sometimes it did happen.

Hope it works out

Have a Nice Day? ckevin

I will go there today around 11:00am.

I hope they will re-paint it for me (they should becuase the color is not even close!)

I will let you know if there is any problem getting re-paint, or may be I can go with you when you have your STI scoop for paint.

They have the exact same touch paint that I get from Carlson.
I didn't bring my car to pick them up cuz I thought it was too long.
I was able to fit all of them in my car and will bring it to them.....
let see

Thanks

I thought that the color was based on the "paint code" and that as long as they have the paint code, they can match it easily.

I gave them the paint code. and they also have a touch up paint there (same one as I bought from Carlson Subaru at RWC.)

Obvious, they mix the paint in house to produce the similar color.

Wink Money back

Just came back from Cute Auto Body Shop.
They aer willing to give me the money back, I just gave them $40 for the paint. Better than nothing.

Then, I need to find another body shop.......

Any recommendation?

ckevin, if possible, I want to see the your side skirts.

Thanks

How long have you had the car? And is it parked in a garage or out in the sun most of the time? Most paints get noticably different within 6 months. So wherever you go next time might need to match it to the actual car rather than just the paint code. They could have also put on a lighter primer and a thinner coat than the rest of the car came with. So keep in mind that you might need to do more than just give them the color code.

Yes, you all are correct. It is based on paint code. But, sometimes the formula has a variant: more red, more blue, green....ect. So thats when it helps when the car is THERE so it can be matched to the panels next to it. That way if your car has faded a little(which you probably wouldn't notice) they can match to the color of your car better. If you have a car with Metalic or pearl then there could be a difference in how course the metalic is, or if the pearl flips "clean or dirty".

The black/blue pearl is one of those colors that take time to match. I wish is wasn't so difficult....that way I could have my body kit and wing on already!!

Anyway, where are you located! If you are in the Santa Clara area I know of some good shops!

Here's a few. Actually they are in San Jose. There is:

1. Monterey Collision- VERY GOOD SHOP. It's located ON Monterey HWY, between Cap. Expressway and Tully Rd. Next to a place called "THUNDER ALLY"(an auto center)

2. City Body-Next to AJ's on San Carlos (hopefully I will be the painter there in the next few weeks).

3. Capitol Collision- Behind the Capitol 16 theaters. They have a night crew so it might mean they will have it done quicker!

I'll try to think of some more shops!
hope this helps. Also I'll ask some of my friends for a place closer to Sunnyvale

CTP,
should have taken them to THE MASTERS in hayward. Dennis is the master at color matching. he has done a series of WRX and including mine. seriously, i think the shop you went to should color match your stuff until you are satisfied. otherwise call Dennis. 1 510 783 8340 Good luck, JOMEL

That hella suck! I went to have a sound system put into my 67 vw one time, and the guy told me no......because he had bigger, more expensive jobs to work on!!

That may be true, but you don't tell a future customer that! That's just BAD customer service.

Uhhhhh, I'm done!!
