Hi, i'll be getting my Gauges this week, probably today or tomorrow, and i was wondering if anyone around ottawa had allready installed an EGT sensor and welded it on their WRX and had the time/equipment to help me install mine ...
FYI, i got Omori Electronic EGT gauge - since im not experienced in drilling holes in my manifold, im not too sure that i want to do it myself. as for the oil temp gauge, I read that it had something to do with the drain plug/oil pan ?? correct me if i'm wrong. - I know i have posted this in the Newsgroup, but had no success in getting a reply, so again, if anyone can help me out. i would be really greatfull, Thank you

If you don't feel comfortable drilling a hole in the intake manifold, then don't!
I'd take it to Lachute Subaru (www.lac-ss), they've done that gizillions time. Should not be too expensive either. Matt NCSC Ottawa Last edited by mturmel; 07-24-2002 at 01:19 PM. |

If you only worry about the drilling part, then you could take your manifold out and take it to any machine shop. Obviously, that means you can't use your car when they're doing it...
Lachute could probably do the whole install for you as well... and then you get to see the goodies room and Julien's PGT WRX ![]() As far as local dealer, both Ottawa dealers are not used to modded cars, at least Ogilvie. I take my car to Gatineau, they have the number one tech in Canada. They've done some mods for me, you can always give them a call (819) 643-4341. Eric should be able to tell you if they can/will do that. Matt |

It will be next week...... I made an appointment next Tuesday at 9am to install my complete Brullen exhaust system.....
If you call Westboro ask for Aron Gabor.... he's the service manager there...... but I don't know if they've done it before but probably since they do sell the Subaru gage cluster.... I doubt Ogilvie would do it..... Most of the Ottawa members go to Lachute on a regular basis for most of their mods and installation..... Robin |

My buddy owns a WRX Wagon and got the OEM gauge set installed by Ogilvie. I don't know if he will chime in.
From what i can see, they replace the factory drain plug with a sensor + plug (1 unit). Because of the sensor wire and extra large nut I cannot fit a socket to undo it. I used a adjustable wrench. Ogilvie install aftermarket stuff. Ask for Gildo. He is quite knowledgeable. I am told that he's got an STi swap GC8 in his garage. |

Guido knows his stuff (no doubt) but he's the parts manager.... if he was the service manager then I'd know the job would be done right.... I'm not big on the service side at Ogilvie (it's hard to beat Lachute's service) .... but no harm in calling around.... if it's standard gauge, then any dealer can do it cause they all sell the Subaru gauge pack....
Yes, I bought it used of a member from Toronto.... picked it up on Sunday in Brampton.... I talked to Rejean and cost should be under $100.... including parts and labour (pretty easy job when you have a lift....)..... (parts are bolts and header gaskets) and need to relocate the rear 02 sensor (further out)... The brullen system new is $1200 for the headers and high flow cat and $700 for the cat back system..... plus tax.... I think installation is included.... This is for the RS..... there's more piping for the WRX..... Robin |

For your oil temp sender, there may be an easier way than replacing the drain plug...
When I installed my oil-pressure sender, I used the "main oil gallery" plug, just under the throttle body. Sure, I don't have an intercooler, so it was pretty easy, but it may be your best bet with less chance of damaging things every oil-change. All I had to order was a specific bolt and washer from Guido. This is the same bolt and washer that is used for the oil-pressure dummy-light (under the alternator). It's a pre-drilled and tapped (1/4 or 1/8? BSPT) 17mm bolt that fits right in. Just re-tap the bolt if you're looking to fit an NPT fitting, and you're pretty much good to go. I'll look around for the part #s; there's also info on this board if you do a search under oil-pressure sender. I can give you a better idea of what I've done if you show up to the NCSC meet next Thursday. Not sure if the heat from the engine will mess with the sender readings though???? The bolt on the oil pan has less ambient temperature at least.... Cheers, Kevin |
