Default AST 5200 Coilovers

Fits 02~07 WRX and 04 STi. I purchased these last winter as I wanted a serious setup that I could daily drive. The following is taken from the previous owner's (Karen's) thread:

Quote:
This is an inverted monotube setup with external reservoirs. I've had this setup on my 2006 WRX for two seasons now.

what they looked like when they arrived

mounting of the external reservoir up front

I currently am running 800/650 springs, and those would come with the struts, along with the very nice Vorshlag camber plates.

my WRX in action last month with ASTs on
and from terry:

You can read more about AST models here: http://www.vorshlag.com/ast_models.php

AST 5200

High end, race ready monotube adjustable suspension that is still streetable
Rebound and Compression Adjustable (doubles)
Modular design - Fully upgradeable to 5300 spec (triples)
Remote reservoirs allow additional travel and heat dissipation
44.5mm diameter shaft struts, Inverted
Remote reservoir with hose, for optimum heat dissipation and additional stroke
Spherical upper shock mount assemblies available
Synthetic hydraulic fluid
Fully supported in the USA

This is one helluva good suspension for the price. It literally has no equal for even 2X the price new, for track or autocross use. It was good enough to help Karen secure a National championship in her first year on them.

The dampers have all been rebuilt since I purchased this setup. They were sent to Terry at Vorshlag and then by him to AST for the rebuild. At the same time, new springs were put on for a more streetable rate: 550 front, 450 rear. Miles on setup before rebuild: 16k

They haven't been taken out of their boxes since I received them from Vorshlag. This setup will come with:

AST 5200
Camber Plates (front and rear)
Tender Springs
550/450 springs (installed)
800/650 springs (in a seperate box)
0 miles on rebuild
Boxed up and ready to go

This setup is in perfect condition. The reason I must sell is because instead of continuing to drive my WRX here, I will be moving to Japan and will need to sell my car in the near future. For those of you guys out there that actually care about how your car handles and don't want to compromise ride quality, this is the setup for you.

ASKING PRICE: $3200 (a little less than what I have in the setup)
+shipping
+paypal

I have spoken to Terry about this, and he said that the parts to make these fit STi's are available (the only difference is the lower mounting point of the front struts) from AST. However, I have no idea of the pricing on them. If you are seriously interested, I can contact them regarding this part

Seriously guys, this is a great setup. I only switched because my car wasn't getting it done in ESP the way I wanted it to, and I needed to do something different with my suspension. 800/650 was "streetable" for me (and I have a bad back -- I drove the car to/from Lincoln, NE... twice!, and once with a Sparco driver seat!), so the softer springs should be even better.

Gary, any chance you'd sell the 800/650 springs separately? And if so, would they come with the original tenders, or are the tenders on the new setup?

yes, I'd sell the 800/650 springs seperately.

It might be worth checking on so all the guys who have swapped over to 5x114.3 which is almost all track/race cars might have a chance at picking these up.

just recieved word from AST-USA that they can be fit to GD STi's by swapping the front casings. The cost is $150 each, and will need to be ordered.
