Default tuning per-gear?

could someone please comment if this tuning strategy is possible on my 08 wrx?

"If I remember correctly, the '08+ WRXs have per-gear requested torque limiting tables as well as per-gear ignition timing compensation (RPM/load.) The '08+ STIs have per-gear requested torque (very limited, two rows, not enabled by default) and per-gear ignition timing control by RPM/load (1-5, 6th has no compensation.) Both these tables could probably be leveraged to build effective torque (via boost control and ignition timing) limiters for higher gears, though they are somewhat limited due to size.

Not sure if Cobb exposes these tables yet. I'd imagine the latest release of ATR has them since Bill joined Cobb."

Our release of ATR/ATP in Feb. of this year, includes these tables. However, not all ECUs have this logic.

In the case of the per gear ignition comp tables, the following ECUs apply:
09-11 FXT, 10-11 LGT, 08-11 STI, 09-11 WRX

For the per gear requested torque, the following ECUs apply:
09-11 FXT, 10-11 LGT, 08 WRX MT/AT, 09 SGT, 09-11 WRX, 08-11 STI

So, for the 08 WRX, you would be able tune per gear requested torque, but not per gear ignition (because it is not supported by the factory ECU).

Per gear tuning is the best thing to happen to these cars IMHO. Cars can be tuned to their full potential in terms of power and safety in every gear.

Here is a thread I put up with some good information on how to use the tables and why they are such a valuable tool.
