Default Anyone know of any good jobs out there?

Hey all,

Here's the deal. I graduated Cum Laude from Towson University at the end of last May. For my senior year I worked at an integrated communications agency in the Inner Harbor called Planit. When it came down to it, they couldn't afford to keep me full time after I graduated, so I left.

I haven't worked since May 10th and I'm hella broke. All my graduation money is spent and I'm having a hell of a time finding a job.

I actually landed one with a company called Gilden Integrated in Baltimore, but then Worldcom went under. Figures that one of Gildens top clients is an affiliate of Worldcom. So basically that's on hold indefinitely.

I'm looking for something in Advertising/Public Relations/Marketing. If any of you have some ideas, I'd always be glad to hear them.

In short, HELP.

Garret

Send me your resume and I will pass it in. I don't know what may or may not be coming up but there is a loyal Impreza base here and rex n effect's chances weren't exactly hurt by that.

Was that Planit Advertising? A guy that use to work for me is now working for them.

I was laid-off last November and still have yet to find a gig. I am in the marketing/web/graphic design side of the industry. There is such a glut of unemployed here in VA. Networking seems to be the only source for finding a job.

For example, I spoke with a large gov. contractor's recruiter and she said she was getting 500-1000 resumes when they posted a web developer vacancy. ugh!

if you haven't tried www.directemployers.com , it may have some leads for you.

others I'm sure you've tried:
marketingjobs.com
dice.com
techies.com
washtingtonjobs.com
wetfeet.com
sologig.com
elance.com
hotjobs / careerbuilder / monster, etc

Yep, Planit. It used to be Planit Advertising, but last November they changed it.

Who was he? I'm still chums with lot of the folks there.

Default its not advertising but...

We're putting an add in the paper on friday for a new "Loss Coordinator".

Basically, its a receptionist but you handle purchase orders, assign payments to vendors, employees, and subcontractors based on work orders, take new insurance claims, some light filing. I'm in accounts receivable.

Company is a general contractor specializing in insurance related personal property repairs. Territory is Montgomery county, DC, and a small portion of PG county. We went from a company making $1/2mil a year to $5 mil/year in 13 years and still growing. Expanding into home remodeling now..

After 3months you'd get a pay raise, health and disability benefits.
Located in Gaithersburg (right next to TurboXS )

Toes... you may not be old enough or have enough experience yet.. besides I think they'd at least want 18 and up. sorry

Beast Civic: I cant comment on the starting salary because it is dependent on experience and the way you conduct your interview, as well as what you ask for. I would suggest making your own offer and go from there. starting salary would be in the 20's.

I also forgot to mention that along with the health benefits you get 401k.

EDITED: I have a way of sticking my foot in my mouth and think it safer not to mention starting salary. I do not make these kind of decisions at my company. Offer what you're worth. My boss is extremely fair.

24K!

Hm, I guess I'm staying where I am. I took a pay cut to come here. But that would be around a 33% cut for me. I'd have to sell everything I own and eat Ramen noodles.

Thanks for the info though.

hehe, I know, for some people that's harldy living, for others it's better than most other offers. I threw it up there because Ghomer was asking and I wouldn't mind filling the position with another I-Clubber!

Good Luck,
Ron

Default whoa, my mistake!

just asked my boss what the current guy in this position is earning. He got hired at around $29k, and if he made it 3months he'd get around a 5% raise on top of that.

Unfortunately, the market sucks right now. I'm trying to find a job in the Philly area right now and it's not easy. I've sent out about 2 dozen resumes with only 1 reply so far.

It's very frustrating. I feel your pain.

Ok, that's more respectable. $24k is like....McD's supervisor pay. =)

Unfortunately, PR/Marketing is usually the first departments to get cut back in slow economic times, you might have better luck getting into something more technical, at least temporarily.
hang in there though, the job market is on the up swing

Endlesshine--

I appreciate the offer, but I think Gaithersburg might be a little bit too far for me to travel on a daily basis.

Let me think about it some more though...

Yeah, I was about to buy that car from him, which is why I got hooked up with Planit. It's all about who you know.

Chris is a cool guy, he just wanted a bit more than I could offer him for the car.
