Default could use some help with a da and black

Using a Flex da polisher and i cant seem to get rid of halogens and fine swirls.

i tried gtechniq p1 and mothers ultimate compound on different speeds and pads, orange, white, blue.

anyone have any luck with removing scratches on black subaru paint? year is 2011. i dont want to hide the scratches with a glaze/wax, i want to remove them so i can apply gtechniq c1.

Have you tried a tactile evaluation(read: feeling them)? If your nail catches it they are probably too deep to completely remove(especially with thin Subaru paint).

Aside from that, regardless of your pads, UC and P1 from Gtechniq especially on a flex should be enough on any Subaru paint to make at least SOME improvement on Subaru.

When you say halogens, do you mean holograms? There is a slight chance your flex with its forced is hologramming the paint, especially when using UC - Yes, subaru paint is that soft and considering that the non-diminishing abrasive product you are using have a fair level of cut to them that could be the case, not necessarily though.

Can you tell us how you are working with the products? Subaru paint does not need a ton of "muscle" to remove fine swirls(which in your case could possibly be thin, deep scratches, I suppose), but share how you are working with them..

ahah. yeah, i mean holograms.

The scratches are swirls from washing, or possibly im creating more with my DA. but nothing deep enough to catch a nail.

I tried my flex speed from 3 to 4.5. i noticed going slower seemed to work well but the holograms were more noticeable. small dime size for the trunk. using just the weight of the machine, no pressure.

i'm going to head down to the detail shop sometime this week or next weeknd. i give up for the weekend and threw on some blackfire wet diamond to hide all the swirls.

Use a polish on low speeds with a polishing pad and that should remove most of the holograms. Next time dont press too hard or stay in one spot too long and you wont create them.
