Yes. For the Open Track Challenge we swapped the better seats from my co-driver's WRX into my car. The only difference is that for some reason the Legacy uses 3 bolts on the inner seat rail - one at the front, one at the rear, and one about 3 or 4" forward of the rear bolt. I'm not sure what the purpose of that third bolt is, as neither the GC8s nor the GDAs use that 3rd hole. As a result, you end up with an empty spot (there's no carpet there).

Oh, and the WRX seats sit noticeably higher than the Legacy seats. I think the WRX seats in their lowest position might be higher than the Legacy seats in their highest position. Normally I sit bolt upright (as upright as the seat will go), but in order to fit with my helmet on I had to recline the WRX seat one or two clicks.

Thanks Pat! Did remove the Legacy seat and brackets, and then install the WRX seat and brackets?

Do I need the WRX seat brackets?

Jacob,

The inner rails cannot be removed from the seat. So yeah you need the rails and everything.

I was goin to get some for my legacy......but the guy didn't have the brackets.

Just unbolt the seats from the floor, in the Legacy there should be a bolt at each corner (where the bracket meets the floor) exept in the center rear, where like Pat said, there are two bolts.

Five bolts total per Seat, and if you have power seats dont forget to un plug them, and the drivers seat belt has a plug too.

(the extra bolt is probably for a sturdier seat belt mounting, although i dont know why the impreza doesnt have it.)

Great, thanks. I think I'll buy the WRX seat.
I only hope it's not too tall for my 6'2" body

Thanks for the feedback.
Anyone have pics of WRX seats in their legacy GT?

Hi Jacob,

Yes I do have two wrx seats ... and they do bolt in as Pat noted ... and I've had both mine in .... and Pat is correct they are noticeably higher ... and I think you might find it a real tight fit under the steering wheel ...

I'm gone this weekend ... but if you want to give it a try before you buy ... let me know ...

If you do get the seat ... you and I will need to find the female set of belt brackets off of a 96-98 subaru seat (dealer says they are generic for those years) ... to hook up to our current seat belts ...

I will be calling aarons auto today to see what I can come up with ... Pat ... how'd you deal with this? probably have a 5 point harness?

and if you want pictures ... when I reinstall them ... I'll post pictures ..

oh ... and one of the extra bolt holes on the right rear for the drivers seat ... for securing the stock amp for the gt's ...

Thanks for the info Charlie! I decided that my 6'2" body would not work well with higher seats in my Legacyk, especially with a helmet on. I am going to go with an aftermarket seat, even though it is much more expensive than the two WRX seats. Thanks for the offer to try them out, that would have been a great help. I hope everything is going well for you and your son, and that your (safely) testing your new-found track skills on the road!

Charlie,

We swapped the female receptacles on the seats. They aren't an exact fit - the two different seats use somewhat different methods of "locking" the receptacle in position, but it wasn't any big deal.

Thanks Pat ...

I'll take a close look at the female ends tomorrow ... I take it they dissassemble from the mounting arm that bolts to the seat ... I know I can switch over the entire arm ... and those are slightly different as well ...

my goal was to be able to swap out the seats without having to swap the female ends between the legacy and wrx seats ...

Jacob ..

you bet we're applying our polished driving skills ... and I worked on mine some more at the evolution school this week too...
