Default If you could design your own EM, what would It do and what would you like to see?

im an industrial design student and im doing a project to design and somewhat make my own em...more philanthropic than real ...what does everyone want to see in their em? design wise (is color, shape cool ish) and what do they want to do with it? personal datalogger, tuning all that jazz? i need feedback because i started this project last week and this is perfect opportunity to get feedback from the demographic im designing for. also what would people like to see when it comes to customer support and online support? communication with customers and the company? apps as well? Need feedback from you..the people who use these all the time.

speed density, anti-lag, launch control, etc. for the regular old goodies

per-cylinder knock, o2 measurement, etc.

CL fueling all the time with the widebands (or at least semi-closed loop)

Advanced optimization tools (I'm imagining something that can push boost up until the heat kills power, balance out timing and fueling to find the right combination of lean and early ignition, etc. Not automatically, per se, but really help out the tuner).

Map switches, controlled with a key (put it in revlimiter=0, and unlock it later)

I think that's about it, until you start doing engine modifications (per-valve solenoids, advanced AWD controlled by the ECU, etc.)

You should design a small black box, cover it in LEDs...and then stick a Motec M800 inside.

If you could start from zero, you're going to have to expand your mind into more than just the subie AWD mind set.

-MAF-less, speed density or MAP based maps
-Multiple switchable maps 3 or 4 would be perfect
-Integraded Wideband 02, multi per cylinder
-Boost by gear/speed (very important for FWD or high HP rwd cars)
-Full data logging (the whole 9yards), with file save ability
-ignition and fueling auto tune (set desired parameter targets)
-programing and map modification out of the car... like at you desk or on your couch
-real time flashing, no turning off your engine, on the fly changes
-Extra outputs, to control various others things... nitrous, meth injection, drivetrain ECU's etc...
-12 cylinder capability
-24 injector capability (two stage injection)
-coil or coil on plug ignition
-2step or other launch control
-no lift to shift capability
-EGT integration, per cylinder capability
-oil press/temperature integration (most have pressure of course)
-ability to output all engine parameters to a vid screen, or guages... that would be cool, basically anything you could data log.


That should get you started

im starting from zero pretty much. basicly i have had an ap and now i have F-con......worlds of difference!!!! but i want to figure out what people want in their em systems. its apart of my senior thesis.
