This is why I always wear fire proof gear in my car and I always carry my own fire extinguisher(s). Small'ish oil fire, headers and turbo area.
Didn't need to pull the main fire control setup, the small hand held did the job.

I knew that was you on a video from the ZR1 eddie posted on facebook!! damn oil fire again, there is something to say about complications with dry sumps and all those damn oil lines!! having to drive all the way around the track did it burn anything significant, or just make a mess??

Bummer Mick!! Was this the first session out? If so that will ruin your day really quickly but it could have been a lot worse. I need to install a small handheld bottle myself for this exact reason. My fire suppression system is adequate but it would suck to pull for something in the engine bay because it would spray me down as well, hmm.

On the track the oil pressure just suddenly started to bounce around and oil temp went sky high. It was like the oil was not flowing around the engine, or not draining. The funny thing is that it starts without issue and has great oil pressure.... The motor sounds different so I am sure it's toast and will get pulled and pulled apart. I *hope* I find something as I hate an issue that goes undiagnosed. I *may* even pull the dry sump and implement my "if I had to do it all over again" plan. Larger oil pan, good pickup, 11mm oil pump and accusump... done. Should shave off at least 100 lbs... |

Hey Mick, how many stages is your dry sump? Wondering if you have ever ran it with all of the breathers sealed up and with a vacuum regulator if you were seeing too much positive crank case pressure so had to vent the crankcase.

Surprise, engine mostly checks out fine, a little charred but cleaned up good and so far runs good. Need to get the oil analysis back and do a compression and leak down
