I didn't bother filling my Hydrocodone prescription, but I am sitting in my comfy chair sipping some very pleasant whiskey. Cheers all.

They didn't even give me a prescription. They just said take Tylenol That was my first time ever with drugs and that feeling on Valium wasn't too pleasant to me. It also didn't kick in into on the way home.

Side note: the whiskey I was drinking last night was Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, which was very kindly left by a guest. I haven't touched JD in twenty years, ever since a very bad night in college. The smell of it would bring on a Pavlovian retching response. So I was very cautious when I opened the bottle, and I fully expected to end up pouring it down the drain. Surprisingly, I got no reaction at all, and I took a careful sip. Ooooooohhhh yeeeeeaaah. That goes down really easy. Yum.

So I got to spend the evening sipping whiskey and playing MW3. Nicest evening I've had in awhile. Other than the sore balls of course.

I'm now 7 weeks after my snip. No complaints now.

I think I probably under estimated the time required for full recovery.

Had some aches for a couple of weeks. After that I was tender down there for several weeks. Even the slightest pressure on them was uncomfortable. But it didn't really keep me from doing anything.

Now it seems fine. No issues to speak of.

My consult went well except for one little part the doctor said to my wife. "Oh and if you want to Lauren you can go ahead and cut one of the tubes." Needless to say my wife is now refusing to go to her doc and do a consult because she wants to cut one of the boys.

So what do you guys think, should I find a way to force the subject of going to her doc so that we can keep to our agreement of checking everything before someone goes under the blade. OR do I give in and let the wife have her way.

Suck it up, be a man, and take your medicine.

Just make sure she gives them a mindblowing sendoff the week before....every day of that week.

If she hasn't given up the balloon knot yet, that's the time.

If you approach it rationally, it's a complete no-brainer who should get snipped (hint: it's you). Major surgery vs. an outpatient procedure. Don't let your primitive instincts do your thinking for you. Suck it up and let her have her fun.

Concur....did that math and came up with the same answer.

FYI...other parts of the world have much higher percentages where vasectomy is the primary means of birth control. Think I read that New Zealand was one of the highest whose male population had gotten one.

I am searching for a doctor right now. Kid #2 is a month old, so looks like it's time.

Anyone do the no scalpel, no needle type? How did you find the doctor you used?

My primary did mine. Not sure what method he used but there was just a couple tiny incisions, I don't think there were even stitches. The cauterization part was interesting. Kinda disconcerting smelling your junk burning.

Strange fact, vasectomies increase near 50% during March Madness.

One co-worker had the no scalpel type....said they poked a tool through the sack and pulled the hoses back out through the hole. Did the snip and cauterize and pushed everything back in through the puncture.

He claimed it was a one-day recovery, but I think that is probably highly a-typical.

I went to this guy... http://www.vasweb.com/

No joke, the procedure took 12 minutes. I drove myself home and took extra strength Tylenol. A little aching the next day at work (office job) but no big deal. I was back at Krav maga a week later. Totally worth it! This guy has done something like 23000 of these things. I tell my friends who did it the old school way about my experience and I get the face b/c they had an eggplant between their legs for days.

im strongly considering this procedure after im done having kids (currently in a serious relationship, no kids until marriage). normally i can handle any type of operation, but there is something about a scalpel in the happy area that scares me a little. oh well, ill get over it.

Go for Thursday. That's what I did. I was able to sit on the couch for a few days to recoup. You can sit around and watch the end of MM.

Went and got it done about an hour ago. My body metabolizes anesthetic fast so had to get re-shot mid way through after a couple tense moments. Does not feel all that good, like others have said, like a constant mild "kicked in the nuts" feeling.

Had mine done almost a year ago. Went sans scalpel/needle as well. Like the above poster, I had to get reshot because I could feel everything after the first one was done. Other than the mild discomfort (partly my fault- hey, I feel fine- let's grab a burger before heading home!) that night and general soreness the next day I was ok.

Side note- have you folks noticed a soreness or deep ache after you've done the deed that was not present before? It has dramatically lessened over the year but the first few months were interesting..

side note #2- best part of surgery was the hot blonde med student winking to me as she left from observing the procedure :fistpump:

I just had my consult earlier today. I am a little nervous. Testicles get disconnected from my penis on April 12th.
