I was the first person among my friends to have it done. Asked my PCP for a referral. Went in, seemed okay, talked it through, and did it a few weeks later.

I asked my pcp, and she referred me to a urologist that is excellent... but she wasn't sure if he still did vasectomies. She said that it had been a few years since she sent a patient to him for the snip, but that the doc has been great for her patients that saw him for other urology type stuff.

I want to make sure i find someone that is good at what they do, and it feels like i should spend more time researching for a urologist than i do searching online for a good price on stupid stuff like guitar strings.
Called Urologist and asked if he would do the procedure to someone w/o kids. He said yes, I said take my money... well, my insurance company's money, and lived happily ever after w/ upset s/o.

27, I haven't... it's a sore subject and between having it done and her likely not able to have kids, age, I figure if she does get pregnant because it didn't I'd be okay w/ that. 4 years in, I feel okay about things.

*IF* we ever split up, getting a check up is on my short list of things to do before sex anyone else up.

I am still on the fence about having this done. Personally I don't want or need it done but the wife needs a procedure done whereby afterwards she should never get pregnant. She can't have her tubes tied due to a previous surgery and the complications it presents for any new surgeries. So in order for her to have her required surgery I have to get snipped.

I don't like the idea. I don't like pain. Our marriage sucks and what if we split up and I want kids with another woman? I havent had penetrative sex in 14 months or penetrative sex without a condom for 5 years. I am struggling to see the relevance of getting snipped. I had the same question as yankeesfan but that's been answered. I just don't think I can get past the pain of someone jabbing needles in my balls because my wife had an elective surgery 7 years ago that creates an issue now.

You just jerk off into a cup and drop it off at the lab. Its not hard to do. They will let you know if anything is moving in it.

The pain isn't that bad. I honestly don't recall even getting the needles to nuts and the valium before hand was pretty nice. I had my phone in there and just zoned out with some good music for the 20 minutes or so that I was on the table. Don't think about it too much and just get it done.

Get the bags of peas and chill for a weekend. I didn't listen and busted a stitch the day after. Don't be like me. While that still didn't hurt that bad it was quite annoying.

If you think you may want kids again save some jizz at a sperm bank. If you don't use it then donate it. Don't EVER entertain the idea of getting this procedure reversed.

I'm set to go in on Friday, I've had the appointment for several weeks now. We have 2 kids and I'm 40, I'm done with kids. Wife said if she had to have a C-Section she'd get fixed, she didn't, so I'm up to bat. I hope it goes well, from what everyone has told me it is not too big of a deal, just be sure to rest.

This seems really off base. She cannot have some kind of surgery unless you get a vasectomy to ensure she won't get pregnant? How is your vasectomy ensure that she can't get pregnant? Especially if your marriage is rocky. I would NOT do it for that reason. Period. Just flat refuse. That should have no bearing on whether or not she can have her procedure. Were you actually in the room when this was discussed between her and her doctor? Because it sounds completely impossible.

Will docs do this to someone in their mid twenties w/o kids?

Lag is an exceptions since he had an SO at the time that went with him.

My wife and I were just talking about this. I'll be 33 on Monday, and we're not interested in having kids. I just hope my doctor doesn't give me any grief about getting it done without having kids.

If you ever do want kids, there are thousands of them out there waiting to be adopted.

I had my vasectomy done about 8 months ago after our third child and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Not having to be concerned with what day of the month it is, etc, is an awesome thing. We plan to have a fourth child at some point, but this one will be of no blood relation.

As far as getting grief from the doctor, at your age I don't think you'll get any friction there. But, I may be wrong.

Ow my balls.

Got it at noon yesterday. Currently watching tv with a bag of frozen peas between my legs. It feels like I got kicked in the balls, which then retracted into my stomach.

No offense but I hate when people say this. It's extremely difficult to adopt. It's also insanely expensive. Yes there are tons of kid in orphanages but its not easy to adopt, in this country or any other.

Know that feel, bro. Just keep on the meds for a while.

Why is it so difficult and expensive? I know my stepdads sister adopted a child from Russia or something

I was thinking just that. Although the same process should apply to some people who just shouldn't be breeding nowadays.
