Default exhaust pipe question

Have a 97 Legacy GT. I am planning to install a SS magnaflow friday (cat back)

What is the stock pipe size?? is it 2.25?? My wifes car is an automatic so it doesn't have much low end anyway..should I keep pipe size stock or increase dia. 1/4 inch. I don't want to loose more low end. Of all the ready made cat back systems out there what dia. pipe do they have??? I am very open to opinions and advice!

Scott

I'm pretty sure the stock exhaust is 1 7/8" or something along those lines. Most people staying N/A go anywhere from 2-2.5 inches, all stating that they've kept their lowend. I decided to split the difference and go with a 2 1/4 " exhaust. Haven't had any problems.
