Unhappy AP is not being recognized by AP Manager 2.0.1.5

I looked in Cobb's forums and did not find any ready answer to this question.

I recently unmarried my AP to my car (with the expectation that I'll be bringing the car in for routine maintenance) and decided to update my AccessPort.

I downloaded the manager software to my computer and everything with the software seems to be fine.

I then plugged in my AP (not using the supplied USB, but my USB cable from my TomTom) and although the AP lights up and that my computer recognizes it, the Manager software cannot "find" the AP.

I did not think that Cobb is using a proprietary USB cable. Is this the problem, or does the AP need to be married in order to go through updates?

Or is it something else?

Thank you.
