Default Need help on setup of sound system

Hey everyone,

Some of you may remember that I made a thread awhile back on whether I should pursue the basslink or go with the two 12' mtx thunders that I had laying around. After a lot of thinking, I've decided to go the mtx route since I already have them.

Now my question is simply this (for the system gurus here). I was referred to the alpine mrp-500 amp (that's off the top of my head. Will update with link soon). With my current head unit (pioneer avh-p3300bt), stock speakers, and the former listed subwoofers, what kind of wiring am I looking at getting? Any other amp around 200 I should be looking for?

The reason I decided to go this route is because it seems I will be spending around 300 minimum anyways to buy a basslink and then set it up. If I don't end up liking this setup, I could sell it for a little more than 400 and then look into other alternatives although I believe I will be more than content with this route even if they aren't the best quality subs.

Lastly, if anyone knows any stores or places in Massachusetts you would recommend for buying audio equipment or getting this all installed, please feel free to speak up (I'll ask in regional later).

well, from the headunit, you have: remote power, rca

from the amp you have: speaker cable, power cable, ground cable

the only thing you wouldn't need with a Basslink is speaker cable; you'd still need everything else in cabling...

you prob should run at least 4awg wiring. The MRP-500 is an awesome amp for its price. Alpine makes great efficient amplifiers. My friend used both an MPR-500 and an M-2000 for his woofer setups. also may want to look into a battery upgrade or a capacitor...personally I would say get a better battery

Thanks for the help so far guys.

To the second post, I was talking about running the 2 12's. Sorry if that wasn't clear .

Reject any notion of a capacitor. Its an expensive and ultimately useless bandaid to an inadequate electrical system.

The fattest cable needs to be the power to the amp, and the ground to the amp.

The speaker cables can be 16 gauge or heavier; its such a short run, you not be losing anything, and just buy what you can afford.

Sound in Motion in Boston is great - but super expensive ($95/hour) if you don't buy from them, $80/hour if you buy the amp/wiring from them.

I'd say get a single amp wiring amp from crutchfield and do it yourself. There are plenty of threads for amp installs.

That's also an option although not 100% comfortable with it, but good to learn.

Money isn't a huge concern (on the wiring part) as long as it's safe and effective.

Just looking to run that setup without taxing the electrical system .
