Question Rally Cross Qs' ?

I am a lil lost with what rallycross is. I saw an article a few months back in SCC showing a rally cross which looked like a mini dirt track. Than I saw a webpage that said it is going through gones on dirt. Which is right?
Thanks,
John

PS....anyone know of Michigan rally Cross events?

I've been to 4 by 4 different clubs.
This is a new to SCCA event and all the ones I've gone to were the first held by that club and in a constant state of tuning.
Usually held by rally members rather than autocrossers.
Usually total all run times rather than only the best run.
one was in a brush-hogged field
one on a dirt circle track and the infield too.
one in a gravel parking lot.
one on a club member's personal test course.
All were fun.

Also check out SCCA Rallycross . It's basically autocross on a non-paved surface. It's a way to drive your car off road, without worrying about hitting a tree or a ditch.
