Default Anyone want to help with 4EAT to 5MT tranny swap?

So I have a 2003 Hybrid WRX with a built motor but it has a 4eat tranny. I have a 5mt sitting in my backyard so I want to toss STi RA Gears in it and swap it into the car. I'd like to try to make this a DIY job but I've never done a tranny swap before, only worked on the motor. So I just wanted to know if someone wanted to help that has some legitimate mechanical experience. I'll toss in a few bucks for you of course, I just want to save a little bit from taking it to a shop. If no one wants to help though I suppose I'll just take it somewhere. So if anyone wants a few extra bucks, wants to chill and do a tranny swap, let me know!

Well, I'm having either RalliSpec or Andrewtech build the internals of the gearbox..

I was just wondering if someone wanted to help me install it into the car after it was built. I'm not touching the internals..thanks for the help though...

a tranny job in a subaru on your back is an ALL DAY AFFAIR. Most charge 500-600 to start. Is that more then a few bucks ?

yea thats what I about looking to spend, at least, for someones help.

I mean that's a few bucks considering what a shop will do it for.

I don't mean like 50 bucks or anything. 500-600 is reasonable

You would do it for a case of Bud Light Lime and a pack of Marlboro Reds.

While I'm not willing to do any heavy lifting, I can offer the following thread for advice:

If you want, I can get you in contact with my buddy who built my RA gearbox, and has been building them since the WRX came to the U.S. He's a Subaru tech at Manchester Subaru currently, but used to build the RA boxes and forged blocks at Exeter Subaru.

Don't build it yourself.

As for installing, I'd be willing to lend a hand if needed.

I'd be willing to help. Did a 6 speed swap into my wrx still working out some electrical issues but the mechanical aspects are fairly simple
