Right on, Richard! I'm sorry but that Skoda is soooo cool! I absolutely LOVE the Peugeot, also. As a matter of fact, it is my PC's wallpaper right now!

It may be big and slow compared to the front runners but it's definitely been a solid performer.

It's ugly IMO BUT the Impreza WRC is still uglier...

So if we see an Golf or Focus around the road or sharing the same street, we should yield to them. We now drive a crappy losing WRC car.

Very well put SG. It never fails. Every single year after every single rally Subaru doesn't happen to win, all the nonsence starts.

And big freegin' whoop that Skoda is beating Subaru right now. It's not like they have no idea what they are doing with a car that is terrible. If a manufacturer decideds to take the plunge into the WRC, you can rest assure that they have a few people on their team that know what they are doing. It's not like Skoda is a privateer team for cryin' out loud, they are a Factory Works WRC contender. They may not have the experience some of the other teams do, but they are a factory team with a WRC budget that can win on any given day( or benefit from the misfortunes of other teams which seems to be the case thus far this year )

Damn, that Skoda WRC looks like an '80s car.
Fugliest WRC car around.

The Peugeot is very nice, so is the Corolla.

But, best of all, my ride looks exactly like the Mitsu car...well, without the roof vent of course and the colors and the rollcage and the anti-lag and the race seats and the 6sp sequential gear and crap, almost everything's different.
haha

Shik,

its not that I am panicing. Its just that over the past couple of seasons, not counting a few wrecks, the subarus have not been reliable. I will cheer for them until my face turns rally blue! Loosing because of a wreck is something I can live with. Loosing because your car wont make it to the finish, is not acceptable. I know what happened to Richard B this time. And I know that he will win at least a couple of rallies this year. But his car will have to hold together, transmission and all.

Dont think I have given up hope! I just hate to see such a great car in last place. We must do better.... Go subaru!

You want to know the REAL funny thing...?

In Czech slang, when you want to tell someone about a REAL shame you say "Shkoda, Skoda!"
I know it is early in the season and it's a new car blah blah blah. All I have to say to that is look at what Peugot did in their first full year with good drivers.... Shkoda Skoda Subaru! But I DO have faith, and we can't win em all

Subaru usually comes on strong toward the end of the season. We usually do quite well in the Safari Rally as well. So we need to get our act together. I am hereby offering subaru my services to aid in working on the car..

I KNOW, I KNOW, you say is too unselfish of me! You say, SCRAP, how can you be so generous!

Well its just my way of saying I support subaru and their efforts. I will even go so far as to offer my limited driving experience to test the vehicles crashworthyness!

OH no SCRAP, you are going to far you say!

I say I will do it!

I will make the sacrifice! I will go the extra mile (kilometer?) if I need to!

Because for the better of the team I challenge every one of you i-clubbers, to give of yourself to the subaru rally team!

Are you up to the challenge...

SCRAPPY(i swear I am not crazy) DO

The thing that is bad about the 44S is that alot of the parts were carryover from the 00 WRC car.

Think of Skoda as the tortoise of the WRC bunch...slow and steady will net some points...

Blaster - The Felicia IS a Passat/A4 platform...VW owns Skoda.

ProgSi - try rally-live.com for some big wallpaper pics.

I think it is an Octavia, not a Felicia. But that would explain it, of course.

And aren't the Passat and A6 on the same platform, not the A4?

I think some people here may not be aware of Skoda's rally heritage. They have been involved in rally of various types since at least the early 70's (at least twice as long as Subaru...) They did fairly well in European rally well before the Iron Curtain fell, with terrible cars and extremely limited resources. I would expect that they still have some of the engineers, team members, etc from those days. To have competed in those days, under those circumdstances, must have produced very good discipline and teamwork, which probably still exists. And now they have VW $$$ and engineering to go with it. As Shik said, it's not an accident they're doing well...

Remember people, Skoda suffered through a LOT of years with the Commies running EVERYTHING. Believe me If you saw what their cars looked like during "those" years the cars thaey have today, is absolutely beautiful in comparison

Look at some of the older Subies.... NOT exactly what I would call design studies in Beauty, form AND function!
