It does actually. A longer moment arm through a fixed angle versus a shorter moment through a fixed angle is a longer distance. In short if a shifter is a foot long across say about 15 degrees of throw its going to be shorter than a 2 foot shifter across the same 15 degree throw. Not sure why people insist that it isn't. Having the shifter closer to the steering wheel is probably more preference to the driver.

Now if you want a shifter extender it's probably wise to get a short shifter because at least it'll limit your throw angle from getting longer which is why I wouldn't say it's a waste to get both.

Got coob short thrower and extender and much easier to shift than regular. Because of the leverage you get.

Looks like a GReddy counterweight.

I like my setup, shifter extender paired with a heavy knob makes shifts extremely easy. I'll probably be getting an adjustable short throw shifter though.
Fantastic!
Any more pics to see the steering wheel/seat in regards with the shifter?
Ideally a pic at the height of the front 2 headrests between them would be excellent.
Does it make the throw a lot longer? I have a STi quickshift at the moment.
The only problem I foresee is selecting reverse in the 6-speed box.
If they did a 2" raised version instead of 3" it would be great.

Ill post a couple of more pictures but it does make the throw a bit longer but makes shifting so much easier. The reverse isn't too much of a problem as you can kind of grab onto the shift extender and move it into reverse but I can see that being annoying. Overall I really like the extender even if it does make the throws longer.

@xabre1200, great, thanks.
I have asked him if he can make me a 2" one.
Does the ring for the reverse operate properly?
Edit: I think you have a WRX and this may not work in the 6-speed box
Are there any gear lever extenders that will operate properly with the lift up reverse ring?

Another one for the STI Duracon. I love the way that it feels. It is lighter, but I actually like that I feel the notches more when I shift. I feel more connected. Too smooth feels disconnected to me.

Nice finish! Always love my Mammoth shift knob. Might even buy another if there are new colors that fit my style, or even a custom engraving option available in the future.

it's not an option for anyone. it's a custom knob i had done for myself. we just introduced a ton of new colors. this knob is going to go for sale soon, within a few weeks and it's the only one, there will never be another.

lol... I can GUARANTEE it makes the actual throw longer. There is a pivot point at the bottom. The further you get from that pivot point, the further your hand has to physically move to complete the shift. It's called a lever. Look up the scientific definition of the word "lever."

Oops... makikogi beat me to it. post 451. Sorry.
