Post Don't hold your breath on tarmac racing

I just had a conversation with SOA on the issue of either the Speedvision Cup or the Motorola Cup. This fellow is totally focussed on the rally homologation process, and has put consideration of road racing "on the back burner". He said that one or two might appear during the year. Then I pointed out that unless SOA files its TIF (technical Identification Form), no one can run one because there's no way to prove it's legal.

This is frustrating. Unless these guys get off their duffs, you won't see a WRX in pavement racing this year. sh....

I don't get Speedvision, but I'd certainly race the class if someone wanted me to drive for them. I'd think that Subaru would at least get the minimum reqirements taken care of...

I would have to second that, who wouldn't want to run a factory backed scoob??? I would quit my job in a heartbeat to race. (mind you im only 19 so my occupational requirements aren't very restraining as of yet )

It's not just the notion of a factory-backed effort. *NO* WRX will be allowed to race until the factory files these forms. So if you wanted to put one together and show up at the track to run with a group of similar-performance cars, you still wouldn't be able to do it because there would be no way to prove it's legal.

What does the TIF do?
Is it required for new cars? SV or MC had the RS and Legacy as cars which could compete.
