Default Hello from NH

What's up Subaru people?

I am looking at getting a new WRX, non STI, base model. The price is just awesome, the car you get for the money is crazy. I would consider getting the next level up for the heated seats, fogs and bigger wheels, but I am not convinced it would be worth the extra $3,000.

This will be my first Subaru and from everyone I talked to they are great cars, very reliable and the non STI is a great DD. I know the STI is sick, but I just can't justify the extra money for it and I don't think I need that much car for my daily driving activities, I think 265 HP will be enough to keep me happy...for now.

My buddy Sweed pointed me in the direction of this website for help and advice, so I wanted to say hello. See if the informed people had any input on the 2012/2013 models.

I am going to see if I can find a 2011 brand new and work a deal, but my guess is that will be really hard. Maybe I can work a small deal on a 2012 as the 2013 just came out.

Future plans, basic really. Like I said this will be DD status, don't need anything crazy, but I hear it is smart to get a tune even on the stock car. I hear the factory tune is good, but can run the car lean and then create ring failures. I want to do an exhaust and a tune probably first step, that will keep me happy for awhile, it wont even be right away, but if a tune is important even on stock configuration then I will make that a priority.

So I am really excited, I am hoping in the next few weeks here to be driving my brand new blue WRX and breaking in the motor and drive train properly. Any tips for that by the way?

Thanks!

I knew it would be keep it easy driving for the first 1,000 - 5,000 miles? Somewhere in there. No full boost (very little anyway haha) and keeping the revs down while the car breaks in. Early oil change, etc.

I will be looking for this manifesto you speak of...

First 1,000 should be enough. As with ANY car if you drive it hard, you will have problems sooner :P

the manifesto is a sticky in newbies section. I'd link you but idk how on the IOS App.
Search for it

Welcome! Unabomber's manifesto is stickied in this forum section. As far as the map tune goes, you're right about how lean the stock map is. Look at Torqued Performance for a new map, the guy there (Eric) is very helpful and gives you a really solid map that you'll enjoy for quite some time

Know this:

1. Read your owner's manual. READ the damn thing.
2. Research twice, buy once if and when the time comes to buy aftermarket parts.
