Default Reflash? Realtime?

I have version 2. In the installation instruction, it says we should use reflash. But after the first install, I already see the map is flashed in tune->map->reflash.

Do I need to explicitly reflash, or by default it is already relashed after the first install?

When you reflash a map, the real-time map becomes the same as the reflashed map. It is not necessary to ever flash via real-time.

A real-time flash only changes the 10 or so tables that are supported by real-time (as opposed to the potentially hundreds of tables available to tune in our software that would require a reflash). So, you always want to make sure that you reflash the correct map for your mods and gas.

The advantage of real-time is that it is very fast and also doesn't require connecting the test mode connectors under the dash for older vehicles. You would generally use it when you want to make a temporary change, such as valet, anti-theft, economy, etc. after you have alreay reflashed the correct map for your car. A reflash will remain on the ECU even if you removed the ECU from the car. A real-time map will be reset to the reflash values if you disconnect the car's battery, reflash another map or reset the ECU (via AP or TUNER software).
