Question Would an 02 sensor be effected by a Catalytic convert?

I have heard conflicting data on this. If an 02 sensor was place before and behind the cat would it effect the reading?

I assume so. I ask for a couple reasons.

1st I have the oportunity to have a 2.5l exhaust pipe as part of my custom exhaust. My car only has a front 02 sensor. At first I was just thinking to block the other port. But would I be able to connect an A/F meter to it?

2nd If the cat does effect A/F how the heck do they measure A/F when dynoing a car?

Thanks

You could connect an A/F gauge to the rear O2 sensor on the RS exhaust system.

The ECU determines A/F ratios from the front O2 sensor, the rear O2 sensor is just used by the ECU to make sure everything is hunky-dory.

Being that your car is a 1990, it doesn't have a wide-band O2 sensor and you can just plug an A/F meter directly to your front O2 sensor Just plug the rear hole

My point was to have an 02 sensor dedicated to the meter. I probably will just plug the rear hole.

You guys still didnt answer my question though!
