Default How long is it safe to run the space saver spare? (2011)

How long (miles) is it safe to run the factory space saver spare on a 2011 WRX? With the diameter differences, is it even safe to limp to the next exit?

I have a 100-mile daily commute and if I were to get a flat, I don't want to put on the spare and then kill a diff trying to limp the car back home if it is not safe.

Edit: This is a pre-emptive question...knock on wood, I don't have a flat.

Thanks in advance.

Nope, Subaru just puts it in the car as a decorative item.

Did you car come with an Owner's Manual?

The owner's manual in my old Legacy made no mention of differential damage. I had not read all of the way through the WRX manual (amended or otherwise). At any rate, the manual does not always seem to have the best info.

I appreciate the response.

Your 2011 WRX has open diffs I believe. So it doesn't matter

While it's arguably one of the most redundant manuals i've ever read the information it does provide will help maintain your warranty. I'll take that advice over a stranger's on the internet anyday...

nice....

They want you to drive as few miles as possible and under 50 because the tire itself is a pos. Not that you will damage the diffs.
I don't have time to explain how diffs work. You've been on here long enough, read the stickies.

the spare they give you (I'm pretty sure) = the same diameter as your stock set up.
So shouldnt matter to limp to the nearest tire shop.

It's within 2% of your stock diameter I believe. The reason for any caveats in the manual is as another poster said: it's a POS tire. It'll pop if you get it to hot (read: drive over 50, drive too long).
