Post Cherokee Club Rally+

We just got back to Buffalo, NY from the rally and everything went as good as it could!
We used a Legacy to tow down to the rally and ran the Impreza with the computer disabled (see 4200 rev limit help in drivetrain posts).
On Friday, Dave Shindle and I were 1st in PGT and 1st OA.
We were protested on Saturday AM because the rear seat was missing and the car had a 2000 outback front end on it and so we changed to Open right at the start.
After the second stage the car had a terrible noise coming out of the engine so we stopped and put the hood prop rod back in its holder (it was touching the alt. pulley).
We finished up the rally and again finished 1st in class (O) and 1st OA.
We gave the Legacy with 193,000 miles on it a break and drove the rally car back to the flatlands above Cincinatti and loaded it back on the trailer at Six Flags. We made it back in 12.5 hours and again had absolutely no problems.
I don't know what the other Suby guys did to their cars to make them break down but we left ours alone and it didn't get a scratch (on the top, the skid plate is pretty worn) and other than the hood prop rod, and gas needed nothing.
Hope everyone who went had a good time.
Randy

Friday and Saturday, SCCA ClubRallies were run on the same roads used by the national and international stars. However, following standard SCCA practice, the Club rallyists were not allowed to use pace notes or make any pre-event reconnaissance of the roads.

Randy Zimmer and Dave Shindle, in a Subau Impreza, were the overall and PGT Class winners of Friday's rally, Ocoee Stages. Don and Matt Kennedy were 2nd in PGT in another Impreza, third overall. Group 2 winners Charles Sherrill and Bryan O'Neill (Honda Civic CRX) were right behind them. Scott Justus and Eric Alimena (Mazda Rx-7) took Group 5, seventh overall, followed by Production winners Anders Green and Jeff Denton (Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup).
Zimmer/Shindle won Open Class and Kennedy/Kennedy won PGT in Saturday's event, Hiwassee Stages, coming home first and third overall, respectively. David and Shannon Johnson (Plymouth Neon ACR) won Production, fourth overall, followed by Group 2 winners Phil and Dallas Smith (MGB-GT), and then Group 5 winners Nui Srisook and Sumit Punjabi (Maxda Rx-7).

congrats. you guys drove really well. a good showing among an otherwise poor subie output (though an awesome rally). i know what you mean about the skid plate. just driving to spectate i kept thinking some of those rocks were going to rip off my oil pan.
