From the reading I have done the knock sums are meaningless.
I think we should be looking @ the knock learning. I was hoping someone with real knowledge could educate me (us) a little. -CK |

Yes, the knock sum value itself it meaningless because it increments even at idle and very low load when the knock detection set-up is extremely poor at distinguishing knock from other noise (which is why the ECU will not respond to those events). You need to look at when it increments. Or, it may be easier to just look at the DAM, feedback knock correction, and fine knock learning.
Your log looks good. No feedback correction or fine knock learning and the DAM is at 1.0. Keep in mind that the occasional feedback or fine learning correction is normal, especially if it is a single event (generally -1.4 deg., depending on ECU). If you have repeatable feedback correction during a wide open throttle (WOT) run (except for the first few lines after you mash the throttle) or you have a more severe correction for fine knock learning at higher load (2+ events, for example, -2.8 corr. or less) that is more of a concern that random corrections. I'm seeing a few fine knock learn events at stage 1 on a 2011. DAM is at 1 consistently and feedback knock is always 0. They seem to appear sort of consistently between 4500 and 5500rpm at WOT and are 5-10 rows of "-0.7" and "-0.35" mixed together.
From what I've read this is ok and nothing to worry about unless they're getting up over -2 but it would be nice to have that confirmed. Earlier this year in march when ambient temps were much lower there was no fine learn at all.
