That's awesome, I had a cheap beater for my first car too and I loved every minute of it. My dad did a lot of the work at first but eventually I dug in and learned a few things, especially when an intake valve broke in half and destroyed the 200k mile motor.

it has an 1.8l currently in it. I am looking at some possiblities. 2.2L, 2.5l. when the time comes. I want him to have something to drive right now. when he has a job and it stabilizes then we will start doing some mods. I think he wants to race it. Hmm, build another race car...???

I love an old Subie

Good choice for a 16 year old. My dad wasn't as enlightened and got me a ford ranger. He made up for it by teaching me to drive stick on a 400hp supercharged cobra convertible that he sometimes would let me take on dates.

I really miss that car

Excellent! I can't think of a better car to start learning on. As you probably know the 2.2L swap is probably the easiest. In a few months I may have a bunch of PhaseI 2.2L parts for sale so keep your eye on the classifieds.

Fianlly some pics with the old cavalier wheels on it. I took the ugly ass 13's off. I just need to sell the 13's now. Or keep as spares.

My son Shane finishing off the wheel replacement.

with the old wheels.

Shane replacing his wheels. I had to purchase one new tire on one wheel, due to flat.

Done.

1994 Subaru Impreza, 2wd, front disks, rear drum...ucck....1.8l eng, auto, A/c does work! Needs a radiator, i need to drop the tank and check the sock, occasionally dies and hesitates when getting to a 1/4 tank of gas. runs really well besides that. the rear shocks drag a bit. 135k miles.
Needs paint and bodywork, so it's a good start for a 19yr old kid.
