Default 2011 Formula 1 - Round 11: Hungary GP 2011, Hungaroring

Back to back racing once again.

F1 teams gather their belongings and move from THE RING to 'the ring' in less than a weeks time.

Webber: Hungary another opportunity for us

FIA chooses single DRS zone for the Hungarian Grand Prix

By Edd Straw Tuesday, July 26th 2011, 08:33 GMT

The FIA has decided to place the DRS zone on the main start-finish straight at the Hungaroring for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Although the governing body has been considering using multiple zones at some venues this year, it has elected to stick with a single area on the tight-and-twisty Budapest circuit.
The DRS zone will start 70 metres after the apex of the final corner, with the detection point being just ahead of the entry to the last turn.
The Hungaroring has traditionally been a difficult venue to overtake at, with the downhill right-handed first turn remaining the most common location for passes, despite a track revamp a few years ago to try and produce more opportunities elsewhere on the lap.

Yes, RBR needs to teach Webber how to use the launch control on the car.
It cannot be that in every single race he just bogs down to almost idle.

He has had problems launching his entire career. I don't think its been down to any of the cars he's driven.

Varsha needs to lose his ****ing job. He screws peoples names up all the time and can't keep the cars straight. How the hell did he get to this level of broadcasting?

Vettel back on pole followed by the McLaren boys and then Ferraris while Webber sits back in 6th with, surprise, a KERS problem.

Anybody else thinks hat Webber is intentionally being sabotaged? The car seems to almost always have a KERS issue in qualifying and if he outqualifies or is right next to Vettel, the car always seems to bog on the start, terribly so too.

No, I highly doubt he's being intentionally sabotaged. His entire career he has gotten bad starts as well.

this weekend, i'll give it to the red bull guys. they earned it. all through the practices they couldn't seem to get any higher than the 4th fastest range, and then they work overnight and pull out a pole. it's pretty cool.

as for webber being sabotaged - i think he is being sabotaged, but i think he's doing it to himself. sucks to see because i'm always rooting for him, but he drops the ball himself most of the time. most notably with his starts. and considering that he does, i don't blame red bull for giving the one new part to vettel if they don't have enough for both cars.

as for the kers systems, yeah, it's pretty weird that it effects webber's qualifying more than vettel's. but in the races, when one car has kers problems, it seems to show itself in both eventually. even when vettel's leading. so i'd call that a genuine kers reliability problem.

If I heard the SPEED guys right (I was on the treadmill), that's 12 straight poles for Red Bull, third longest streak in F1 history.

I would think Button qualifying 3rd means McLaren has significantly improved the car over the past month. Good job today JB!

Timing and scoring not working for anyone else?

And its back! Kinda funny, its slowly catching up on all the comments they put into the system over the last 8 laps.

Wow, thats really dangerous towing a car into the pits like that, think they could have found another solution or closed teh pits instead?

Going to be a long race, only did 17 laps the first half hour and another 20 in the second half. Could see this going 1:50.

Its ridiculous that the commentators haven't announced that Hamilton was given a drive through penalty yet. They also don't seem to be able to read how many pit stops Webber's done either...

this is precisely why I think speed guys need to be shot. All they need to do is watch F1 timing and scoring to get the relevant information needed. They were screaming for inters back when guys were still doing 1:35s on their slicks.....

Hamilton definitely screwed that one up.

This was the worst race they've had in a while. It seemed (as a biased fan) that they were sucking off McLaren the entire race while missing the good moves that RBR also made. Hobbs was particularly bad at the start of the race. But I'm sure I'm just being a fanboy Missing Hamiltons spin was also funny.

It was a great race, despite their inability to watch it.

i have no idea who is who on speed, but they are all useless with the exception of the will braxton pit dude, he seems to be the only one with a sensible head on his shoulders.

Seriously guys, can you not take the few seconds to confirm whats going on with FIA live timing?

"Hamilton has done 6 pit stops AND a drive through penalty and yet hes right there with webber"

No, Hamilton has done 5 pitstops and a drive through. He also had a nice 20+ second lead to webber who coincidentally has also had 5 pitstops.

I think they're trying to make the racing seem more interesting than it needs to be. I'm sure if McLaren has a bad race next race, they're going to be all doom and gloom again just like they are now with Red Bull. This is what I hated about the ITV guys in the UK, they'd go from "OMG Hamilton is done, no chance to do anything this race!" to "He's a genius!" within 15 laps of each other.

It also sucks that they lied about showing the full race with post race coverage. If you can't do it because of a big race, I completely understand, but don't say 'Now that its on Speed, we'll show everything!' and then pull what they did today.

I clearly need something else to do today!

His strategy calls were horrendous. He was great a few years ago, but now he's starting to lose it. I'm surprised Buxton didn't ask him if he was going to insist that Trulli had an engine failure because of the water leak.
