Nice. 50 shots are producing some great results! What cars were you running against in each of those slips?

when i ran the 12.6 i raced against a 1980 something firebird, in the 12.7 i raced a camaro, and in the 12.99 i raced a 1995 impala ss.

nj1983:

nitrous oxide is wonderful when used correctly. i bought all of the parts for my set up separately. i already had the lines and the bottle. i am running a NOS fogger with a 22 fuel jet and a 37 nitrous jet. that should be around 50 hp. its really really easy to install and can be mounted stealth. i only use the nitrous on the drag strip. i would say about 4 1/4 mile runs a month it is used.

How long does the bottle last you (13 sec pulls, like at the strip)? Did you do any runs w/o Nitrous for a baseline comparison?

Question more info

How do you engage it?

WOT? Flick of a switch? Pill at a certain RPM range? Do you use it in 1st gear?

I'm REALLY looking into the 50 shot from NOS myself... and this whole paranoia about nitrous not being safe is stupid... in the hands of an intelligent racer and installed by pros (or you if you've done it before) absolutely NOTHING can go wrong with a WET kit... dry kit is another story...

BTW, I thought you had to upgrade the fuel pump... or maybe you don't have to because it's only a 50 shot...

Thanks.

P.S. I ran at Luskville dragway Saturday and one guy with an 2002 RS really wanted to compare on the dragstrip! I ran a 14.1 and he did a 16.5 if I remember... the heat was just totally gross and it was on the verge of raining (and it did) so humidity was at an all time high...

That time at Carlsbad gets serious respect from me. Carlsbad sucks as a racetrack. I ran a 14.8 at palmdale in my integra, and the best I did was a 15.6 at Carlsbad. I think it has to do with the giant crack on the right hand lane. Well, that and the disgustingly hot temperature.

Great time man!

Stealth-wrx, Why don't you try a 75 to 100 shot? the wrx can
easily handle it, just get the right spray pattern or knock knock.

How much boost are you running? thanks

You had great runs! I have to say, that 80s something firebird kicked some serious butt, though . 11.1 at 124, woof!

the bottle usually last me 8 full 1/4 mile passes with ease. as long as they are at least 10 min apart so the bottle can warm up a little.

i use a wot switch that gets triggered by my throttle body pulley. by doing a full throttle switch it never gets used before 3200 rpm.

unfortunately its not as easy as everyone thinks to drive. in my 12.999 run my tires were at 30 psi and my boost was @ 9 psi and i spun one of my front tires untill 5000 rpm. then i put the front tires to 25 psi and i ran 14 psi of boost and it did the same thing, but it ran 12.6. in the last run i put the tires at 20 psi and the boost at 14psi and the tires grabbed harder than i expected so the car hooked and i bogged a little. thats why my 0-60 foot was 1.9 in the 12.7 run. i figure if i go back i can pull a 1.6 or 1.7 then i will be in the 12.4 area. once i do that then i will move on to bigger turbo, injectors, and engine management.

when i came i was planning on using my other nitrous and fuel jets but the car was doing so well on the 50 shot that i decided to see the capabilites of stock turbo, fuel, and ecu with a 50 shot.

tonight i will put a picture of my set up. its quite simple and if anyone wants, i can put the exact part list and part numbers of what you need to make a bad ass kit.

as for a 75-100 shot, i dont know. i have jets to do so but the most my car will ever see is an 80 and that will be probably only 1 time. i am going to stay at a 50 shot until i get a new fuel pump.

i will keep everyone posted.

hhhhmmm call me ignorant or whatever but wouldn't a WOT switch squirt the juice at whatever RPM you full throttle? So if I'd go WOT at 2000RPM right off the launch wouldn't it squirt? Or is it something different?

Nice times man. People will soon realize the WRX loves Nitrous. It is safe and it is the single largest gain you will ever make. I cant imagine not having it. Nitrous washes out so many other mods that you dont need... IC's? stock is fine. Intake? stock is fine. Pulley's? stock is fine.. I could go on and on about the things I realized I dont need with Nitrous.

FYI... Some are running 100-150 shots on WRX's. I talked with some of the NOS brand techs and they confessed a few on this board that are doing it. Its like anything else.. people will lie about there setup just as they will lie about how much NOS they run... I dont care to play games and I dont want publicity so I dont post my times.

He also said that he knows of one major engine failure on a WRX Wagon. That car was jetted to 150. I would not think of running more then a 50 shot myself. But then again. With out Nitrous I am at the verge of the engines limits. Every car is different but I will offere some advice based on my experience. keep checking your oil level and smell the oil for fuel.. The 22 jet is damn big for the WRX with a 37 Nitrous jet. You are probably ok since you have a stock pump.. When you upgrade that pump you should think of getting a widenband to tune the ON nitrous AF. Fuel in the oil is a sure way to tell if you are puke rich...

Good luck!

Hey! You had at least one good 60' time! Great job.

My 2 cents - I did my best 1/4 miles on stock wheels inflated to 40 PSI.

You can get low 12's if you're willing to get a new turbo (not a giant lag monster - but something reasonable like a VF34, VF 29 or APS/Cobb SR 30 or 40). I think that if you do get a bigger turbo it would be worth the effort to get STi injectors and a fuel pump.

Great Job!

subyrex:

i have a master power switch inside the car that turns everything on. if the switch is off then nothing works.

i plan on getting a vf30 with some injectors, fuel pump and some sort of ecu. i am just waiting for the ecu to come out. i talked to them a few weeks ago about it and they said in about a month. once its out i will buy everying and finish the car. i had my stocks on when i raced and they were spinning still when i dropped the psi to 30 then dropped to 25.
