Talking Advice needed for a friend of mine.....

Ok, here's the deal, a very good friend of mine who drive's a shiney new 2001 Audi S4 has no problems with AutoCross.

Cool, great, I love it.

Problem - He is concerned how his car will handle a Rally Cross. Last year we did the last Rally Cross is his Infinity G20t up in PortLand Oregon (yes the one that was written about in SCC) and had a blast. It all seemed pretty innocent, a big grassy field with nothing but cones to hit.

Someone on the Audiworld site says the S4 suspension is to soft for RallyCross. I dont really know what to think. I was under the impression a Rally Cross like the one up in Portland, would be less harmful than an average AutoCross.

Question: For those who do the Rally Cross', are they all pretty much a grass field and cones? I'm not talking about the SCCA Pro Rally stuff here folks.

I really want him to have fun, but I dont want to put the car in any danger.

So, is the car going to be able to handle it? I guess that is the bottom line.

Thanks,

Justin

yeah, I thought I'd bent a control arm at one of them Oregan RallyX's last season, but it turns out it was o.k... things can happen, yes... but you could also just take it easy, have fun, drive at the limit your comfortable with, etc... there was a Mini driving at one of them one day, by the end of the day the car was barely clearing the ruts in the course, so he stopped.. no harm done, know your limits (or your friends)... If you're thinking of competing in the Oregon rally-x's next season post your questions in the NW forum, there's a lot of us over there that could offer some advice/ local knowledge.
