Question 2011 WRX Stage 1 Boost Readings

Hey guys,

I've been reading around and searching for an answer but there doesn't seem to be anything definitive.

I recently bought an AP and flashed the stage 1 93 OTS map and after letting it learn and settle, I was peaking at 15.6 psi in 4th gear(Stock intake/exhaust). So i uploaded the HWG map and drove it for about 200 miles and now im peaking anywhere from 17.4-17.8 psi in 4th gear.

My question is: Is the HWG map causing to much boost? I know the stated levels are 16.5 +/-0.8psi.

Do I have anything to worry about?

*Ive searched the site and google but cant find a definite answer. If i missed a sticky somewhere, just point me in the right direction*

you should have never flashed the hwg map. Boost target for stage 1 is 15.3. If you were hitting 15.6 with your normal wastegate map you should have left it because you were only .3psi off. now your around 2 or so psi off. If i were you i would be using the map that produces 15.6 psi because thats damn near the target boost for stage 1..

My map says target is 16.5 psi +/- .8psi. Im using 93 OTS not 91 OTS which is 15psi. And yes i double checked the map is for the 2011 wrx.

And if anyone wants to know ive been logging every chance i get and have no knock and solid 11 AFR during boost. No feedback knock or fine knock during full acceleration in all gears.

The AFR reading on the AP is not accurate. You need a wideband to see what your real AFR is.

17+ PSI might be a little much for a stock exhaust WRX. I would be more worried about how much boost its holding at redline rather than a 17PSI spike.
