Default accessport map selection questions 04 wrx.. catless tbe stage 1/2 and economy mode?

so i just purchased a 2004 wrx from a coworker. it is completely stock except for:
a turboxs 4" catless downpipe, and a straight through pipe all the way back into a magnaflow muffler. i have to look under the car, because i forget if he said the header/up pipe was replaced.

anyways, its flashed for the stage 2 91 octane. i have a long drive into work, and i can see the gas needle drop..

would i be ok with going to a stage 1 91 octane map? i also saw on the cobb website that they have an economy map.. LOOK BELOW! what psi is this running? what kindof gas maileage can i expect? will this be ok with my TBE.. i dont want any leaning out...

The economy map just lowers the fuel tables slightly..might make the car run leaner if ur getting on the throttle.

I wouldn't run the econo map as a base map but as an RT map on top of a stage 2 base map, yes it should be OK. Not that it will make that much of a difference to make up for the loss of get up and go that the car should have but now won't.

just ran through my first tank of gas.. getting around 14 MPG.. mixed highway.. only got on the gas a few times..
i have new plugs and wires, and again the only mods are the accessport stage 2 and corresponding exhaust...

it definitely needs to be updated.. hopefully thats the issue.

Wires?? I get a average of 24 mpg of mixed driving 28 mpg rural 50-65 min. Lights. On a stg2 93 map. The key is staying out of boost. It sounds like you may have some issues which is why you are getting bad mpg.

Thats really low milage. I just ran from tacoma to bellingham and back today with some city driving in bham and seattle on the way and averaged 29.8 mpg. Im on a 91 octane stg 2 map with a turboxs catless uppipe and cobb catted bellmouth downpipe on my 02 wrx wagon. It also has a 3 inch catback but that shouldnt matter.

All I did that was out of the ordinary was to stay out of boost as much as possible. I just set the cruise control at traffic speed (65-70 mph)

i just filled it again, so im keeping a better eye on it. the guy i bought it from said that he got between 19 and 24 mpg.. maybe it was a fluke? im out of boost alot.. just cruising with my foot barely on the gas. im keeping a closer eye on the mileage this time around.. maybe it wasnt a full tank last time since he said he filled it.. hmmm...

also, he got it tuned a precision tuning, so i wonder if its something they programmed into the ecu as a basemap. this is why i need to get my accessport up and running again.. anyone have the obd2 wire for a v1 they want to sell?

Would you get better gas Miles if your not getting on the throttle?

The primary means by which the fuel economy map improves mpg is by disabling boost control (i.e. minimal boost) and some minor timing/ fueling changes. You could achieve most of the gains of this map on one of the performance maps by driving very conservatively and staying out if boost as much as possible.
