I've been working with tire rack on this for a couple of weeks now. Each tire manufacturer posts specs on recommended rim widths as well as a sectional width for a rim of "X" width. It's on the spec sheet for each individual tire. They have cool definitions of sectional width and how to figure it out if you decided to run this tire but with a wider rim, etc.

The only cmplication that arises is if they don't have the tire that you're looking to run.

Best of luck hunting,
Fitz
