Im not sure how specific they are so I took the size out a few decimal places.

The EJ20G type RA under buckets are different and more expensive, the EJ20K shims are not as expensive and the same as EJ207 under bucket shims. I have a few used shims if you're interested I can measure them this Sunday.

Not neccesarily. Quite a few of mine take the same sized shim. every motor is different though. Just allows you to make sure everything is within spec. The shimless bucket are the same way.

!#*$^)#@!$&.

Every time I think I'm ready to build a motor I learn something new like this and it's so discouraging. I want to build one so bad but I can't justify the investment in parts and time and then miss something like this and the entire investment is a waste.

gaaahhhhhh. </whining>

If you don't change your cams or valves, you can usually reuse most of your shims/buckets. I only had to buy a couple when I rebuilt my STi engine.

These are the thicknesses of the spare/obsolete used shims I have...

1x 228
1x 233
1x 234
1x 236
1x 239
1x 243
2x 246
2x 247
2x 250
1x 251
1x 253

I can get the shims size between 1.88-2.08 and between 2.40-2.51 mm new for 20 bucks but I'm not a seller here so I can only help you if you can't get them elsewhere thru official vendors...

Thanks for checking for me Marnix.

I emailed Dave @ Rallispec and he said he could get them for me. I might just do that but it could take 4 weeks to get them.

Or I could just take the head off and take it by the machine shop to have the stems ground and use the shims that I already have.

Decisions decisions.......

If you have a source for shims I would order shims and leave those stems well alone

By the way those EJ20K STI shims are only 1,100 yen each at Japanparts.com, that's not expensive (certainly not 83 bucks).

I think you might have been looking at the wrong part
See this link http://japanparts.com/db/partslist.p...x=0&submit.y=0

Part 034-043-13218-1 and 034-043-13218-2 are 1100 but if you look at the picture they are shim OVER bucket

Part 034-043-13218-4 is 6300 yen or 81$ each! Check the picture and you will see its the under bucket type

In case anyone cares the Tribeca under bucket intake shims are not the same as these. i ordered one and they are about 7mm and have a lip built in.

The Tribeca exhaust solid bucket/shims are ok though
